Brewers sold for $180M+ approval expected

    Milwaukee rejoices

I think we can assume the commish will approve this

The Milwaukee Brewers have accepted an offer to purchase the team from Mark L. Attanasio, a Los Angeles investor, a baseball source said Monday.

The sale was for more than $180 million, the baseball source said. The sale price is in the neighborhood of what the Brewers were seeking, but higher than what sports analysts thought the team would fetch.

Fenway Park goes dark now. For a while. No "Sweet Caroline." No "Dirty Water." No "Tessie" sweeping up on the big board while the Dropkick Murphys send everybody home with a smile. The only activity at the yard in the next 11 days will be the Sox grounds crew pondering where to put the World Series logo in the grass behind home plate. Dan Shaughnessy

Selig practically invented the salary dump. I guess he's now invented the franchise dump. I hope this new owner is another Artie Moreno, and will spend the money to field a competetive team...

It really is a private club these MLB owners

[QUOTE]Attanasio's business resume is long, but he has had little connection to sports.

In 1985, he joined Drexel Burnham Lambert, a New York investment firm. From February 1990 to March 1991, Attanasio helped manage the high-yield bond and bridge loan portfolio at Drexel Burnham. In May 1990, Drexel Burnham declared bankruptcy.

In 1991, Attanasio left Drexel Burnham and joined a Dallas investment firm to form Crescent Capital Partners. There were six partners in the business, including Attanasio. One of those partners was Thomas O. Hicks of the Dallas investment firm Hicks, Muse & Co.

In 1998, an investor group led by Hicks bought the Texas Rangers baseball team for $250 million. Hicks also owns the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League.

Las Vegas could work. I also think New Orleans can be a decent choice, but I doubt that. Atlantic City? Sure, I can purchase a team and move it to Atlantic City, but I'm not Donald Trump.

    FROM AOL SPORTS

''Selig's ownership stake of nearly 28 percent is held in a trust. At a sale price of $180 million, he would receive just over $13 million -- approximately the same amount of his own money Selig has put into the team over the years.''

No link it was on AOL Sports....

How does THAT math work....28% of 180 Mil is NOT 13 Million... closer to 50 Million no?

I like that name. I also call them the Vegas Shuffles or Vegas Dealers.

Or even better, the Vegas All-ins.
