Red Sox playoff ticket lottery info

    PLAYOFF TICKET LOTTERY FORM

Tickets for each potential 2004 MLB postseason game which may be played at Fenway Park will soon be available for purchase. As part of the Red Sox continuing effort to make Red Sox tickets available to as many fans as possible, we have worked to develop a more efficient and fair ticket ordering process. Since there are a limited number of postseason tickets available through this opportunity, applicants must fill out and submit the registration form below to participate in this opportunity to purchase. Registration begins at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time ("ET") on Sunday, September 19, 2004 and closes at 12:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 (the "Registration Period"). The Red Sox will then conduct a random selection of winners from the pool of registrants for each of the three postseason series. The winners will have the opportunity to purchase up to two (2) tickets to one (1) game of the 2004 postseason which may be played at Fenway Park in Boston, MA. Exact date, times and instructions for ticket purchase will be communicated by e-mail to each applicant selected. If a selected applicant does not follow these instructions, he or she will forfeit the opportunity to purchase tickets. There is no charge to register for this opportunity. There is no obligation to buy a ticket.

In order to be eligible for this opportunity, you must be eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry. In addition, you must complete and submit the entry form located below during the Registration Period. Limit one entry per person. In the case of multiple entries for the same individual, only the first entry received will be considered. Only entries submitted to the Red Sox during the Registration Period will be entered in the random drawing. Entries generated by a script, macro, or other mechanical or automated means will not be valid.

A random drawing for the opportunity to purchase 2004 American League Division Series ("ALDS") tickets will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 and each applicant selected will be notified on Thursday, September 23, 2004 via the e-mail address submitted on the registration form. Those applicants whose names are selected shall have an opportunity to purchase ALDS tickets on Friday, September 24, 2004 from 12:00 noon ET to 6:00 p.m. ET. In the event that the winner does not respond to such notification by purchasing 2004 ALDS tickets by 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2004, a disqualification will result. Please be sure to provide us with an accurate e-mail address. The Red Sox are not responsible for any e-mail notifications that are bounced back or misdirected.

REGISTRATION PERIOD BEGINS: 12:00 noon ET, Sunday, 09/19/2004
REGISTRATION PERIOD ENDS: 12:00 noon ET, Wednesday, 09/22/2004
    ALDS RANDOM DRAWING: Wednesday, 09/22/2004
WINNERS NOTIFIED VIA E-MAIL: Thursday, 09/23/2004
ALDS SALE FOR WINNERS: 12:00 noon - 6:00p.m. ET, Friday, 09/24/2004

Drawings for ticket purchases for any 2004 American League Championship Series or 2004 World Series games played at Fenway Park will occur at a later date. Such winners will be selected from the pool of remaining non-winning registrants and notified via e-mail with instructions on the ticket purchase process including dates and times for these sales.

Each ticket purchase shall be subject to a $6 per ticket convenience fee plus $14 per order shipping and handling fee. All sales are final.

NOTE: MLB game dates and times are determined in the sole discretion of the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball and/or the Boston Red Sox, as applicable, and may be subject to change. All tickets purchased in connection with the drawing shall be subject to those policies applicable to Red Sox ticket holders generally; as such the Red Sox from time to time in their sole discretion may amend policies. Red Sox Non-Played Game Postseason Ticket Return Policy: Tickets purchased online or by phone - marked WEB/PHN on the front of the ticket - will be automatically credited back to the account holder of record and WILL NOT BE redeemable at the Red Sox ticket office. These tickets DO NOT have to be returned for reimbursement. You may not resell any tickets purchased in connection with the drawing or use such tickets for any promotional purposes whatsoever. Registrations are non-transferable with no cash redemptions or substitutions. Address information supplied below must match the billing address on the credit card.

Fenway Park goes dark now. For a while. No "Sweet Caroline." No "Dirty Water." No "Tessie" sweeping up on the big board while the Dropkick Murphys send everybody home with a smile. The only activity at the yard in the next 11 days will be the Sox grounds crew pondering where to put the World Series logo in the grass behind home plate. Dan Shaughnessy

Good luck Sox fans. Steinbrenner already bought all the tickets so you can't have them. Shame.

there were VERY few Yankee fans at Fenway next year. I expect the same if they meet again this year.

When are they painting the World Series logo on the field at Fenway?

I can't blame them. The fans at Fenway are psychopaths (at least a lot of them) and they would love to maul a Yankee fan to death. I went to a game there once, not exactly the most loving atmosphere.

Whats this? Is ND redirecting an anti-Boston comment at the Yankees? I don't believe it! You've just made an irrelevant comment to take focus away from a fact that derides the team you like! You really shocked the ................ out of me with that one.

So you agree with the poster? Yankee fans get killed at Fenway Park?
The post was ridiculous IMO and it got the reply it deserved.

Fenway is a horrible place to go if you're (1) rooting for the visiting team, and (2) not sitting in the very best, fanciest-pants box seats.

Yankee Stadium is a horrible place to go if you're (1) rooting for the visiting team, and (2) not sitting in the very best, fanciest-pants box seats.

Anyone who thinks there is a fundamental difference between the two places hasn't been to both. Raucous, intense crowds, with a small # of psychopaths (who tend to give a bad name to the rest of the crowd). Places like Camden Yards, Skydome, Comerica, ...whatever, while certainly featuring some hard-core fans of the home team, certainly don't offer as unpleasant an experience for fans of the road team. But let's not pretend that Sox fans are "worse" than Yankee fans or vice versa.

Don't go to Yankee Stadium and root for the Red Sox

Don't go to Fenway Pahk and root for the Yankees.

    Simple.

Thanks, I just entered the drawing. I urge all Yankee fans to do the same .

Imagine the ire of the Boston fans if they're playing Oakland during the first round and there's a ton of Yankee fans there chanting "19-18" , I can picture it now...

It would be funny except I'm a numbers guy. The Red Sox are only allowing 2000 tickets per game through this. Then add the overwhelming number of Red Sox fans going for the tickets and you MIGHT see 20 Yankee fans at the game, surrounded by 36,000 Red Sox fans. Not to mention the fact they will be scattered everywhere.

If I was a Yankee fan and I won these tickets I would be selling them on EBay.

I've been to many Yanks-Sox games in both parks and your post is 100% dead-on accurate. Tip to Yanks fans when at Fenway - buy beers for the folks in your general vicinity at the start of the game, you will find less "rudeness" I assure you. I would assume the same holds true for Sox fans in the Stadium.

Yeah, just make sure you win the lottery before the game or get your Christmas Bonus early.

Seriously, are you suggesting you buy beers for your section? At $5.50 a piece? And for strangers and fans of the opposing team?

I don't think it's nearly as bad if you're respectable and tolerable.

Absolutely true. I went to Games 6 and 7 last year, wearing a Sox cap and shirt, and was surrounded in Game 7 by nothing but Yankee fans (for Game 6 I had a lot of Sox fans in my section). The key to my survival was -- in addition to buying a "good-luck" beer to the guy sitting next to me -- to actually (gasp!) talk with the people around me, tell them that I was aware I was in "enemy" territory, and just generally shoot the bull. And, during the game, I didn't act like a complete dork when the Sox jumped out to the lead. And when the unthinkable happened, sure, the people around me "taunted" me, but it was all good-natured. When Boone hit the homer, I shook everyone's hands around me, offered my congrats, and quietly left so everyone could have their moment.

It's amazing that, when you act like an actual human being, people generally will treat you like one. (This applies to basically everything, doesn't it?) The only people who really tried to "get in my face" were people I was just passing by in the concourses, etc. You gotta simply ignore those folks when you're in the opposing team's park.

I will be posting my pair for the ALDS at Fenway on craigslist Oakland and craigslist Minneapolis shortly. Highest bidder or most obnoxious fan will win the tickets.....leaning towards most obnoxious fan right now.

Ridiculously fat and tall fans get a discount as well.

I am not usually the type to sell tickets like that... especially playoff tickets, cause I would like to go, but living in MD, it's very hard to get to NY for a game, let alone boston.

  26. #26
I entered and passed the info along.

Oakland don't sellout their own home playoff games without the help of 25-30% of Red Sox Nation. You think Red Sox tickets would garner anything ?

    Minnesota fans...same thing.

No, not the entire section. The folks adjacent to you and they usually reciprocate by buying beer for us, so it's a wash monetarily. I agree that everyone should be respectable and tolerable, but that is unrealistic to expect that from all 35,000 fans.

What was the point of the Red Sox doing this? Couldn't they just sell all the tickets at once? Or by limiting it to 2 tix per person they allow more people to see the games???
