All I have to say is, this ump is awful. Terrible. Pathetic. Did I mention awful? I usually do not complain about umpires, especially when my team is winning, but this guy sucks.

I was surprised Francona used Myers in the 8th. Hopefully Foulke will blow the save. If the Sox win this game after all those LOB...

Anaheim pitching stunk that whole series. I want to see Boston face one of the A's big three who dont usually choke. What i mean is, they dont beat themselves, you have to beat them. Those should be interesting games.

But with my luck Boston will probably get Harden, Redman, and only 1 of the big three..

Redman pitched today, which put him in line to pitch Tuesday. Zito pitched yesterday, so he starts Monday and Hudson pitches Wednesday.

    K-Rod is nasty.....

I'd like an insurance run here but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen so hopefully foulke can hold them in the 9th.

Nice play by Manny holding Glaus to a single. People who call him a terrible defensive player are missing the boat.

Even better play by Varitek gunning down Glaus.

Nice play by Cabrera also. K for Foulke! 2 down...

    GREAT defense.

Manny holds Glaus to a single, Tek throws Glaus out stealing 2nd, great pick and tag by O-Cab.

All of those people who said the Sox were winning because they were playing weak teams, now what?

The AL East is now a closer race than the wild card.......

37, please calm down. I know you are running on adrenaline right now, but please.

You have 9 games to play, not 3. Keep me on ur buddy list and we will talk on Thursday morning after the stretch.

It was a hit and run, not a straight steal. The batter did not make contact because the pitch was in the dirt.

Who said we couldn't win 1 run games? This is our 5th straight 1 run win!

Also, our longest winning streak since 2002.

I am perfectly calm. All I am trying to say is that there was all this talk about how the Sox were only winning because they were playing bad teams. Everyone pointed out that Anaheim, Texas, and Oakland would be tougher, and that the Sox would cool down. Now we sweep a good team, and people start saying how bad Anaheim played, and people are complaining about pitching match ups. I know there are still 6 games left in this stretch, but a 3-0 start ain't to shabby.

I guess that's what you've got to expect people to say on a Yankees message board, but I agree with you. Three days ago, people were saying that the pitching matchups favored the Angels. Perhaps the Sox are just hitting good pitching and making opposing pitchers look bad.

Lowe pitched great tonight. I don't know if you watched the game tonight, but I'm pretty sure the opposing staff made itself look bad on its own

The pitching choked, the team beat themselves, the team rolled over, they only play the Yankees tough. Don't you get tired of saying the same thing over and over? When a team is swept, it's because the other team is better, plain and simple. You can keep deluding yourself that all these teams are out to get the Yankees and have decided to lay down when they play the Sox. It'll be interesting to see how you explain it when the Sox beat the Yankees next weekend. Will it be that your team rolled over? Will it be that they choked? They beat themselves? They only play the Yank...oh wait, that one won't work.

I can't imagine anyone saying that. Lackey's miserable, as is Sele (all record), and Colon's rejuvenation, as Euclis pointed out before the game, is overrated.

I caught a few innings on the radio...Colon seemed to have a strange outing, getting into bad situations then out of them. Was the umpire as bad as it seemed? Looking at the game log I don't think I've ever seen so many called strikes, strike three or otherwise.

    I agree it was inexcusable.

As for the 1 win games - I don't know why so many of these people here are so pleased with that. Sure the bull pen held - but it's also a result of leaving a lot of men on base - leading to using up more use of the bullpen which is not great.

You should be banned for baiting and mocking an opinion that many people have expressed on this site. And saying "when" you beat us doesn't help either.

Don't look now, but Lowe is 6-1 in his last 9 starts. Martinez is 3-1? Wierd.

I speak for myself and not other fans. So if your expecting me to defending other peoples comments, then you'll have to take a number.

I saw the matchup and thought the Sox should have taken at least the first 2 games. Once Sele was listed as a starter, no matter what his record is, I had a feeling he would suffer from Jeff Suppan-itis

So by posting a response to something that I didn't agree with, I should be banned? And as for mocking, come on. People have been saying for days now that teams "lay down" or "roll over" when they play the Sox like it's a conspiracy against the Yankees and I think it sounds silly.

The reason is because Boston couldn't win a 1-run game to save their lives before the break. I believe they actually had the worse 1-run game record in the majors. Now, 1-run games seem to be a strong point. It should be WAY more of a credit to the pen than a knock on the offense for leaving runners. I mean, it's not like we weren't beating the crap out of the ball anyway. 44 hits in the series. Not too shabby.

3-0 is a great way to start. All they have to do is split and they would have went 6-3.

The whole bad team issue can be said for every team that would have had the same schedule. The Yanks have had it. So have the A's, Angels and Rangers. The Sox got their chance and took advantage.

Did the Angels play badly? Thats debatable. I know their pitching was bad, but they did hit a little bit. I was like a massacre or anything. 3 well earned wins and its on to the next team.

Of course, this Jon character who has suddenly taken up to fight this cause in this specific thread would like to just lump me in with everyone else (very intelligent I might add) rather than looking at it from an individual perspective.

    Very smart.

It does sound silly. The Sox are playing much better baseball than Anaheim right now.

I'd argue that, based on the SP, they're also a much better team than the Angels. Anaheim's "strong point" of middle relief didn't come through, either, when it really mattered - Scot Shields, well done!

The reason we are pleased with a win like tonight is because we have been losing these games, all year. Our main problems, from May though July, was stranding baserunners, lack of clutch hitting, and a shaky bullpen. It is nice to finally be on the other end of a game like that.

I don't want to start a pissing match, but I believe that all I have done is ask you what you thought about people saying the Sox were winning because they played bad teams. I asked you this because instead of responding to a poster's points, you chose to tell him to calm down and come off his adrenaline rush. I wasn't lumping you in with anybody, just trying to create discussion. Jeeez. Guess that effort is wasted now. Sorry to get off track.
