Would Pinella ever manage the Sox, your thoughts

I voted in the poll for worst manager and read a couple of posts about Pinella possiby managing Boston. I know that his contract with Tampa is extensive so the chance of him changing teams any time soon is slim.

    However....

Is it possible that he might manage Boston? Personally I don't think he would even if offered considering the complete hatred displayed for them in the 1970's. I also don't think he would because it might be deemed betrayel to the Yankee fans. It does make for an interesting argument though and could you imagine the uproar at Yankee stadium if he were to come on the field with a Redsox uni on?

He's going to be with Tampa for a while, he will not leave during the rebuilding process. The team has a serious chance to compete in 2006 and 2007. They need Lou and will do anything to keep him, and I have a feeling he will stay.

I think by the time Lou is done in Tampa, the Sox will either have a better manager or Lou will just feel its time to retire. Lets face it, after managing Tampa Bay, you would want to retire too

I think it's cool to think about, but I don't think Lou is leaving Tampa. I think it's his last gig and I also think he is enjoying his time there, with a lot less pressure on him and a chance to build a good young team.

Good question because you know if they don't make the playoffs Francona will be history.

Lou will want to finish what he started. The D-Rays are his team.

Not now. Perhaps down the road after the Sox rebuild.

The 1970s were a long time ago and Lou's association with the Yankees ended a long time ago too. He hasn't minded having his pitchers plunk Yankee hitters with regularity through the years nor did he mind getting into a bit of a grudge situation with Paul O'Neill, so I doubt if "betraying" Yankee fans is a real big concern of his right now either.

Whether he wants to work with the current Red Sox ownership + Lucchino, or whether he wants to deal with Theo Epstein and Bill James telling him to manage the club sabermetrically, are much more pointed issues as to why Lou might not want to go there.

I would imagine that the management will stick with Francona, after they handpicked him. And I would be pretty surprised if they went for Jimy Williams, considering he was let go (by a different management) not that long ago by the Sox.

He could coach here in my dreams, maybe.

He is going to finish what he started in Tampa, I don't see him going anywhere soon.

Not sure if Lou would subscribe to the philosophy of Red Sox mgmt.
