BS about Yanks minor leauge system

From ESPN's "Winners and Losers" trade article, 6th paragraph.

"But what really makes them a deadline-day loser is that, if they'd just had a couple of big-time prospects, they would be sitting there with the Big Unit right now. Instead, we asked one scouting director to run through their system, level by level. And he couldn't find even one potential impact player."

How can they say that? That is some of the biggest bunch of BS I've ever heard. When I read that it made me furious. ESPN is run by the biggest bunch of friggin morons EVER.

That had to be one of the worst articles I've ever read. I'm still trying to figure out how the Dodgers were losers, and how the Mets were winners.

So why isn't Johnson w/ LA?

The Dodgers are losers for giving up their two best setup men and their heart & soul in Lo Duca. The Marlins are losers for trading Penny.

The Dodgers traded Lo Duca at the perfect time and Penny is worth more than Mota given the Dodgers' situation.

    Because Arizona's demands were unreasonable.

    True, very true.

Lo Duca is around 31-32, and that's the time most catchers start to slow down a bit. Also, he will demand big $$$$ after this year, and perhaps the Dodgers were not prepared topay. Penny is a very solid starter, who has pitched in big games (last year, for Florida). The main loss was Mota, but the Dodgers always have good kid pitchers and will replace him from within. Finley is an upgrade over Roberts, by a lot.

Dodgers were not losers. Not at all. The moves may have been unpopular, but guys like Finley and Penny are the ones you want in pressure situations during September and October.

Think about it, who do you want starting in th playoffs, Nomo, Lima, or Penny?

Because of garbage like this, I think the Yankees will give Cano every opportunity to be the everyday 2B next season. That will show the world that their system has some players.

I know. My point was that for all the criticism on the Yanks farm, the Dodgers, who may have the best farm system in baseball, were not able to get RJ either. Hence, it may have to do more w/ Arizona's demands than the lack of prospects in the Yanks system.

I think after LA traded away LoDuca and Mota, Arizona knew they had to make the RJ trade for their fans, thus they asked for the moon and stars.

The problem with saying the the Yankees has no prospects is Peter Gammons "reporting", and the rest of the ESPN workers following suit and backing him up and trying to sound smart. I can name 5 impact players that we have in our farm system. It's just a young one.

Nice thought, but I doubt it.

the yankees were not losers, and their farm isn't as bad as people make it out to be, i feel like the media tried to block a deal by making it look so bad if anyone took the prospects
