Ahhh....i forgot you were in the financial world too.

I couldn't believe how busy it was this morning here. I shut my phone off and don't plan on turning it on until at least 2. I'm all set today.

To a full day of work

    I'll be here until 4:30.

And I'll be pretty much the only one in my office here on Friday.

Yeah, we're a "phone team" and not allowed. Though at least half of the offices I speak to have something blaring in the background. Effin' Sucks. Oh welll, under 2 hours...

You beat me to this thread! I was hoping to be the first in, but alas, I am merely second.

I'm stuck here until 2 pm, at which time I will be joining a bunch of old buddies from high school to play in our annual Thanksgiving Athletic Endeavor. This year it is hoops. Past years have included homerun derby and touch football.

    5? Oy....

On the bright side, if you work in the financial world, you are, in all probability, pretty slow today.

Hopefully both of you guys are, actually

I know I was missed last week in this thread.

I'm tired and do not want to work at all. Way too much time left to even start the countdown.

    I have no motivation today.

My gf is coming to visit me this weekend for my birthday, and I am way too excited about that. She'll be here around lunchtime, and then I need to work for another 3 or 4 hours before I can go home and see her.

I have a lot to do now. I'm swamped with work until the end of the year or so. Hopefully that will make it pass more quickly.

I'm glad it's Friday. I have a ton of work, but I'm planning to retire in April. That gives me the motivation to keep going. I have been lucky. I work for one of the best companies on earth, but after 35 years it's time to go.

    Wishing everyone a good weekend,

This has been the busiest week. We've been short-staffed all week and won't have a full staff until the "Black-out" period starting on the 16th.

This week sucked. I pre-worked all these extra hours so I could leave at noon yesterday to go to the Center Stage taping of the Bernie Williams interview, then at the last minute they postponed the taping. When I told my boss he said that was great, now I could work all day.

So I'm looking forward to 3pm.

    Wow. Sunday for me.

Seriously. You are like the NJ me.

Actually, in June, I'm going to be leaving DC and moving to the NY/NJ area. We do very similar work... perhaps we'll end up working together. Or competing with each other.

    Hehehe.

Any birthday celebration plans for the weekend?

Heh, the NJ you. That's funny...

    Where are you moving to?

No plans, really. Deb's taking me out tomorrow night. But other than that, it's just a normal weekend.

Today’s been a perfect day for me.

It’s Friday, my boss has been out all day, I’m caught up with my work & all I’ve done is hang out at NYYFans shooting the breeze with my fellow Yankee fans.

Slacking off? You bet, it just doesn’t get any better than this.

Well, it's Friday once again, folks.

I got in early today, so that I can leave about 3:30 - 4:00 or so. I have so much to get done, but I am waiting for someone else to do some of his work that I need to proceed.

I HATE waiting on people like that, and I have this feeling it won't get done today.

We had our office holiday party last night. Needless to say, today is dragging.

We have ours today. Everyone is leaving early for it except me and a few others. I opted not to go this year.

They were charging people 30 bucks to go to this party. What the hell? It's at like a bar and grill, and you can pick from like 3 crappy entree's. Dessert is apple cobbler -- the red-headed stepchild of all desserts.

PLUS, if you go, you have to (on top of the 30 bucks) bring a 10 dollar gift for the stupid gift exchange thing.

    Grrrrr.

We have a holiday breakfast... odd, but better than last year when we had a holiday nothing.

If I had to pay 30 bucks for a holiday party, I'd opt to not go too.

(Last summer, the people in my small office were trying to plan a trip to Six Flags. They kept asking me to go. I told them that I'm only paid to be with them for 40 hours a week)

That's asinine. We went to a posh country club that the CEO and CFO of my company belong to. Merryl-Lynch was having their party upstairs (we wanted to crash it...). It was good food, and the first time I enjoyed getting buzzed in a really long time.

I got the chocolate cake for dessert. I should have gotten the apple cobbler .

Do you have any stats you could compile on companies that are cheap for holiday parties?

This is done by the 40 or so people in my particular office.

In all fairness, my company (I'm a federal contractor), is holding a party next week that will be free to me. The menu looks quite good for that one, and it is at a hotel.

Still, the worst part about todays thing is having to sit around until 3:00 or so when everyone else gets to blow off work for the afternoon. Essentially, that is what they are selling for 30 bucks.
