I'm in an argument with my friend right now about Kenny Lofton vs. Bernie Williams. It started out that I felt that Lofton was better defensively which he argued. I gave him all the stats and all that and he budged a bit. Then we got into offense where I was saying that Lofton has been better this year. He then brings out the "but Bernie's clutch" card on me. I responded that with how many AB's Bernie has had in "clutch" situations, he has obviously had some big hits and I don't think that makes him a "clutch" hitter. Not to mention, I don't really believe in clutch hitting in general. My question for all of you is if there are any articles that can show my point. Or, did anybody ever try to make a statistic for "clutch" hitters? Thanks.
