Also has 9 SB's. He was a part time pitcher, part time OF/Dh last year. Seesm the decision was to concentrate on the hitting bit this year, and forget about pitching.

He struggled early, but has been picking it up the past week or so. He's at his season high in avg., and riding a solid hot streak.

Kartler went 2-3 in the first game of the double header yesterday. That moved his avg. to .288. He was the DH, and batted cleanup. In the nightcap, he again went 2-3, with a rbi (his 32nd). His avg. is up to .293. He batted in the 6 hole, and played LF.

Battle Creek lost both ends of the double header, 6-5, and 7-5.

Haven't kept this up to date for a few days. So, to fill in about Karttler, he has a couple of off games, and his avg. dropped a bit. Yesterday though, he slugged his 9th HR, and even legged out a triple. This was his first triple this season.

    He currently has 9 HR's, 37 RBI's, with a .285 avg. and 9 SB's. He was the DH yesterday.

At best, he gets to Tampa this year. At worst, he finishes the season at Battle Creek, starts 2005 at Tampa, and moves to AA if he continues to improve.

This is his first season of showing that he can hit. He was not as successful in Staten Island last season, with the "hitless wonders".
