    nba draft tonight

i hope okafor goes first and gordon apparently has a possibility of going 3rd

would that be the highest a duo from a college team has been drafted?
Okafor explained afterwards. "I just saw this orange object floating in the air and it said 'grab me'. I grabbed it, spun, saw the rim, thought it would be a good idea to put it in, and that's what I did."

It's all about picking some tall lanky white European guy who won't play at all that year, ala Donnie Darko Millicic

Lew Alcindor and Lucious Allen went #1 and #3 in the late 60's.

Just for clarification, Lew Alcindor changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and that was in 1969.

Also, Jay Williams and Mike Dunleavy went 2nd and 3rd in the 2002 draft.

By the way, drafting Telfair before a guy like Jameer Nelson is stupid. I think Nelson is going to be a real good pro player.

Also, I think the Rockets made a good 2nd round pick with Luis Flores (he played for Manhattan college and did well in the NCAA tourny) with the 55th pick. I'll be rooting for him.
“I mean, people knew that Brown was out there, and that Randy was ornery all the time. And Pavano is whoever he is. But if you’re their manager, you can’t go out and write about them like that.

I really really don't like the NBA anymore. They made it so HS kids think that it's an insult to attend college. I understand that there are some who can make it, but to have 8 HS kids taken before the National Player of the Year (Jameer Nelson) based on nothing but hype is shameful. These kids will need to learn a whole new game, as well as discipline. Why bet on the small chance you get the next KG or Kobe, when you can have a proven leader in Okafor or Nelson - kids who are disciplined enough to complete their degree while playing top level basketball. It amazes me and until the NBA institutes a minimum age requirement, I won't watch it.

theres so many reasons i could list why okafor should have been drafted first instead of howard but im too lazy to do right now

Orlando made a nice move by trading for Jameer Nelson though. They need a PG

i am surprised that Orlando elected to pick Dwight Howard before Emeka Okafor. They could have gone for the sure thing in Okafor yet they choose to draft Howard who will need 2-3 years to fully develop at NBA level.

And now that Orlando will soon be trading Tracy McGrady they will have to start rebuilding from the bottom up.

If Orlando played their cards right, they could have had a starting lineup that includes:

    McGrady
    Okafor
    Nelson
    Hill

Sure Hill is a big IF, but they're saying that this is the first time his leg looks completely healed. We'll see. If he's healthy, that team could have made the playoffs next season in the weak East.
