If anyone cares how our old boy is doing, so far so good I guess... 4 IP and 1 ER against the Padres. Surprising after his rough spring.

I think Weaver will have a good year. I still believe the pressure in NY and the constant scrutiny is what did him in.
As for ST predicting his performance, last year, if I remember correctly, he was nasty in ST for us and look what happened then.
I wish Jeff luck, as long as it is not against.

I agree, i see a good year for him. More power too him. I would have been a shame for his career to go down the tubes.

NY isn't for everyone and it was clearly not for Weaver. Despite his fustrating time in the Bronx, I think he'll do fine in LA. I wish him well. No hard feelings here.
This isn't fair. Where's the guy that blew the World Series last year?

Oh, I blame him too.
But the fact remains that Weaver was the guy who threw that pitch.
And if he hadn't lost that game, we could have had a game seven.

He's doing well so far. I wish Jeff lots of luck.![]()
Boone blew game one by cutting the ball off. He blew game 4 when he couldn't connect on any those fastball thrown to him. He gets the bat on the ball we win that game and the series.Originally posted by Mattpat11

I've always had faith that Weaver would eventually turn into a decent pitcher. If that happens for him with the Dodgers that would be great but it's too bad it never came together for him while he was in pinstripes.

While I don't disagree that pressure in New York had something to do with Weaver's struggles, was is it naturally assumed by everyone that he struggled with the Yanks simply because of pressure? Isn't that really simpifying things?Originally posted by yanksrule69

Could pressure have had something to do with it? Sure. But maybe his stuff just wasn't that good. Maybe he was tipping his pitches. Maybe scouts figured out some holes in his game. Maybe hitters made adjustments. Or, perhaps, maybe he just had a crappy year. That happens to players, and it could be because of 100 other reasons besides pressure.
Let me know when he shuts down a team like the Cardinals or the Phillies (sorry Nat) .

We are not turning this into another Boone thread dammit. What a game for Weaver! He will be the ace of the Dodger staff just wait.
Global Warming and climate change hysteria could well represent the historical pinnacle of collective insanity.
Final line on Weaver:
7IP, 8 hits, 1ER, 1BB, 6K
Wicked. LA's bullpen rules, once again. It's always nice to see your favorite player get the game-winning hit, too! 2 gutsy, nail-biter victories in 2 days... For 2 days in a row, it is good to be a Dodger fan.![]()

talk about close games for the Dodgers hah!
bradley looks like a good move - takes walks (something LA could never do) and stole a base to score the winning run... nice!
He pitched a terrific game. He had the slider working tonight, and when he's locating it, it's one of the best in baseball. It was nice to see him pitch well in front of his family and friends. Vin Scully mentioned that Weaver had around 30 guests at the game tonight. I can't hold any hard feelings towards him. He was a stand-up guy, and he helped get the Yankees their ace...

Told ya.
i don't see why anyone holds a grudge against this guy. He certainly was a major disappointment, but you can tell that Weaver wanted to win so badly, and he always went out there and tried his best. He wasn't making excuses for his failures; all he wanted was a chance to prove himself.
I wish him the best in LA. And, like Rich has said, I have a feeling he'll be substantially better there.
His pitches had more movement on them last night than I ever saw during his stint with the Yankees. He seemed to be pitching with a lot more confidence, which he was clearly lacking in New York. But I think he'll come back down to earth when he faces a better team.
Never left the Betances bandwagon.

i don't know... the mental damage could be irreverisble
His ST was horrible, but I hope last night was further proof that ST isn't the greatest indicator of performace during season. You can't underestimate the impact of Jim Colborn on Weaver... guys with no chance of making the team have come to ST just for the chance to work with him. Colby completely overhauled Weaver's mechanics, but I'm not sure in which respects.Originally posted by NelsonMuntz
