I hear the sales of certain weeds are up in Vero Beach.

Mar 18 2004 - Jeff Weaver allowed four runs and eight hits through five innings today against the Marlins. Still very hittable. Weaver has a 7.07 ERA and has given up 25 hits in 13 innings this spring.
Global Warming and climate change hysteria could well represent the historical pinnacle of collective insanity.

Ahhh, so I see all is right in the world....the sky is blue, the grass is green and Weaver stinks.![]()
"The Jerk Store called...they're running out of you"

Not good. I still hope that Weaver can rebound with the Dodgers.
He's been up and down. He's shown some flashes of dominance this Spring. Eerily similar to his stint in the Bronx. Nevertheless, he should do alright at Chavez Ravine...
FWIW, last time I saw him on the Dodger's report, he was sporting shoulder length hair and a goatee. He looked ridiculous...

Maybe it'll change this season. The defense and the large park will help him.
weaver got rocked again today bringing his totals to 35 hits in 16 innings, and a nice even 9.00 era.
I'd like to take Jonny Damon to my barber, get him a nice flatop - Joe Giradi

Sounds like a pitcher that has completely lost his confidence.
I thought about going to that game today...Was at both Marlin games on Sunday (vs Mets) and yesterday (vs Astros (Pettitte)...kinda glad I saved the $$$ now...Originally posted by nyyfanatic85

The Dodgers' guru of a pitching coach completely overhauled Weaver's mechanics. If Jim Colborn can't help him, no one can. Hope he's just working out the kinks. If not, he can easily be replaced. I'm hoping Wilson Alvarez gets a chance to move back into the rotation anyway.

It's too bad, I hope he can rebound and start pitching like he should be.Originally posted by Yankees1962

“I mean, people knew that Brown was out there, and that Randy was ornery all the time. And Pavano is whoever he is. But if you’re their manager, you can’t go out and write about them like that.”

Guy stinks. He gives up like 2 hits an inning. I see no reason why Jeff weaver will be any good this year, regardless of that dam park or his defense. People just hit the ball flat out hard against him, there's only so much your defense can do for you.
It's a damn shame is what it is. I wish the best for this guy but I'm also realistic. We'll see what happensOriginally posted by djhitman01

Esteban Loaiza, Randy Johnson and Greg Maddux had more line drives hit off them than Weaver.Originally posted by djhitman01

Goodbye Gravy, Nash and Olson. You'll be missed.

His star has really fallen. Remember the "Dark Horse Cy Young" thread? Yeah, me too.
Any idea exactly what he's doing different? When you think about it, anything different has to be good since everything he did before was wrong.Originally posted by DaBoys4LifeNYY35

jeff weaver is horrible.. plain and simple... i stood by him as long as i could but i know %@#$@% when i see it... then i read on this site how his numbers were only bad because of the yankees defense... give me a break... this guy couldn't pitch in my softball league...
Unfortunately for JWeaver, everthing that KLJ says is correct.Originally posted by KLJ

Sadly, his fall from "likely future ace" to 'why is this guy even in MLB???" has occured in less than a year.
Even though I cheered when the Yankees were able to get rid of him for good pitcher like KBrown, I wish Jeff well and hope that his career has some kind of rebound in the near future.

The best thing about the Yankees getting Brown is the fact that we were rid of Weaver. I wish him well but, the guy's game is lame. No one deserves to suck so bad.
I got mine in blazing copper.
Ha..no, I started that thread. I think Gabe Kapler said that Weaver was the dark horse to win the NL Cy Young this year.Originally posted by RedGlare

Jeff Weaver is only horrible because he can't possible spot the ball with that erractic delivery. Other than that, he has a live and durable arm. If the Dodger's pitching coach succeeds in changing his delivery (which I doubt he can do), Weaver could become a legitimate starter, especially in the N.L.Originally posted by KLJ

It seemed to me that he was good for 4 out of every 5 pitches or so. His big problem was that that 5th pitch had no movement and cruised right down the middle of the plate so that the opposing batter could crush it.Originally posted by Bub

That's exactly his problem. 4 out of 5 works in AAA, not in the majors. Look at guys who had practically nothing - Jimmy Key, Jamie Moyer etc.....but they hit their spots 19 out of 20 times, plus changed speeds well. I'm convinced a change in delivery would help Weaver a great deal, I'm just not convinced he can make wholesale changes this late in his career.Originally posted by penfold
