    I agree. But we had a pretty decent player wearing #42 in the 50's, Jerry Coleman a clutch good fielding second baseman who made a good DP combo with the Scooter.

    Jerry Coleman was the player I wanted to be in the early 50's when I was in little league playing second base. Only later did I begin to realize how much he and Ted Williams sacrificed in their careers by serving their country in Korea. Coleman was a great clutch hitter and teamed well with Scooter for a few years. I believe he still broadcasts games for the Padres.
