I think, during the National Anthem.
They have no class and that would just prove it.
During the National Anthem
When the Pats score
When the Pathers score
When the Pats win
When the Pathers win
They will realize that baseball has nothing to do with football and will not start any chant.
I think, during the National Anthem.
They have no class and that would just prove it.

I would guess there will be no chants during the game. They "have no class"? I assume I should write that post off as one of the few in every crowd...

I think they're smart enough to know they aren't playing "The Pathers". What is a Pather anyway?
mark my words, you will hear the chant at the Centre Bell in Montreal during tomorrows B's/Habs game as thousands of Boston fans make the trip every January.
Just wanted to see if people were paying attention.Originally posted by Dmacint007

Anyway, New England Fans will be so drunk they won't even know where they are.

(actually, on that I'll take Cubs fans over either of you - plus we can manage to hold our liquor and not fight...)![]()

Do the words "Todd Hundley" and "crowd fight" ring a bell??![]()
Global Warming and climate change hysteria could well represent the historical pinnacle of collective insanity.
Well, I am serious, but obviously that wasn't such a smart move. Probably b/c he was sitting on the line - real fans are in the bleachers.Originally posted by nyyfanatic85

I've been to two Bruins games this year at the fleet and no one started any YS chants but there were 'NY Sucks' chants since it was againts the Islanders. They are not too bright up in the cheap seats. One lady said 'go back to the swamp'. Obvious she is too stupid to know that Jersey is the swamp, not Long Island. One other guy said to go back to Brooklyn, because all Islander fans are from there aparently. As for the Super Bowl, I'd say no anti anthing chants will start because only 10,000 season ticket holders get tickets from each team. Besides, nothing happend at the SB two years ago with the Pats.
Bring back Ted Lilly!

Just as an fyi AGAIN
The "Yankees Chat" everyone saw two years ago on ESPN, was started by Larry Izzo on the stage at Government Center.
Here's another newsflash.
Patriots fans won't be thinking about the Yankees tomorrow. Having the best team in football, and winning 15 in a row makes you forget other sports for some time.
However, if Larry Izzo would like to start the chant again, I'm sure we will all indulge him, by helping him with it. I'm guessing "Yankees suck" works much better compared to "Jets Suck" .

"Police were out in force in Boston's Kenmore Square, where college-aged fans poured into the streets and lit small fires. A local television station reported that one of its vans was vandalized, and fans flipped as many as six cars near Northeastern in Boston. At the intersection of Brighton and Harvard avenues in Allston, firefighters hosed down revelers in hopes of dispersing the crowd"
There was also one death last night too.
The direct link to the article for some reason isn't working, but if you go to the main page and scroll down about halfway, you will see the headline..."One Killed As Pats Celebrate Super Bowl Win"

Some person drinking and drving backed into some people in the Fenway area. It's horrible when these things happen and college students act like idiots..Originally posted by Pomp

I don't get this. It's only been 9 years since I left school, but this crap never happened when I was in college.
Remember, these kids aren't from Boston. I'm disgusted, as are the people who live here, when these things happen.

Let me guess, they must be from New York.
Only, New York Fans do that sort of thing, right.

I think NDBoston means these college kids are not technically from the city of Boston, which is probably true. But, I would be willing to wager that many of them are from Boston suburbs or Massachusetts, in general.

Most of these schools get kids from all over the US. I wasn't saying any particular state.
BU, BC, MIT, Emerson and Harvard get kids outside of Massachusetts for the most part
It just seems that New York fans get a bad reputation when it comes to celebrations. When other cities have a sports team win they riot. I do not remember any major incidents when the Yankees won any of their 4 World Titles in the past few years. However I do remember riots in Detriot for the Red Wings, LA for the Lakers.Originally posted by NDBoston

People complain that NY Fans are rude and assume they will continue to be rude (see AP article on Indians pitcher who was in a Gay movie) but when Cleveland Fans throw beer at players it is just forgotten, or when Chicago fans go on the field and beat up a coach and throw things at a fan for maybe interfering with a foul ball.
It just needs to be pointed out that fans in other parts of the country are worse than the NY Fan.

according to USA Today the correct answer was BEFORE the game
No-Yankee zone: Was this the Super Bowl or the American League Championship Series?
A chant that begin as a tepid ''Go, Pats, go!'' suddenly changed when one fan decided to change the wording to ''Yankees suck!'' Within seconds, four levels of Patriots fans walking up the ramps to their seats happily and loudly took up the cheer.

I love that the New England fans do this. I love that they hate the Yanks so much. Their football team wins the Superbowl and they're worried about the Yankees. WE'RE IN YOUR HEADS!!!!!!I was on the ferry to CT last night and they had the SB on. I purposly wore my Yankees hat just so all the NE fans would see it. I got some crazy disgusted looks.

It is just so funny how obsessed the red sux fan is with the Yankees.
I bet some red sux fans chant "Yankees suck" at other events like:
- The birth of one's child (OH what a cute new baby, whatever, Yankees suck, Yankees Suck
- Church - The Pope is going to vist Boston. (May be he will say a prayer to the man up stairs for the sux and join us in a Yankees suck chant.
- In school. Ok class what is 2+2. Who cares, "Yankee suck, Yankee suck"
- I guess as Americans we should be glad that baseball was invented when it was. If it was around during the colonial days, who knows. In stead of Paul Reverse midnight ride, he might have been in a bar chanting "Yankees Suck"

Actually, I'd happly wager that at Wrigley - and maybe at most parks - you will find more true fans, %-wise, in the bleachers (or similarly, grandstans) than on the line, where there are a lot of corporate seats, freebies, etc.Originally posted by GoBernie

Back the the thread, though, I was at the game with a bunch of Boston area folks. They started a Yankees suck chant Saturday night, so answer could be "before the game," although it technically wasn;t at the super bowl yet. that said. they started it laughingly because a guy at the bar we were at was wearing a Yanks cap. He found it funny, and he was a good guy. I think some of the folks on this board read too much into it. "We're in your head"? Actually, you're the ones posting here in the offseason about their chants, so maybe they're in your head. From what I saw, and have seen, it's mostly one more thing to do while out having a good time, be it at a game, parade, bar, whatever - nothing more, nothing less. Just one opinion.
Re. "celebrations," I've never understood this stuff. And it isn't Boston/NY, and it isn't just college kids. I was in Chicago for a few Bulls championships, and it was chaos. And very sad when people get hurt because of it. But not a reflection on a tram/city's true fans - as has been posted here in various contexts, there are morons ion every crowd, wearing every cap.
