I was going to be bold and pick Carolina, but I guess I'm not that bold. Well...Carolina wins and ends up in the Super Bowl.

Carolina's D is good, but the Rams will find a way to get their points. Carolina must run the ball in order to keep the Rams offense off the field to even stand a chance. Not a chance IMO.

i say carolina pulls the upset

Carolina 23-13
I agree, want to say Carolina in an upset, but Marshall is BACK. Rams.
Rams

Carolina not kicking on 3rd down could be the dumbest non-play since Marty Mornhinweg deferring...

Panthers win 29-23 in double OT... Steve Smith wins it on a 69 yard TD reception... that play was a clear example of why the Giants didn't want Jason Sehorn. He missed a tackle at like the 40 and cost them the TD.
on the Rams first possession, they should have kept driving instead of running and kicking a field goal. 53 yards is no gimme...
nonetheless, great win by the panthers, and stupid pick by me

great game double OT.
If I'm the Rams owner I fire the coach... ball on the 15-20, 30 seconds to go with one time out. You have to take at least two careful shots for the win...
No kidding. Run a couple patterns to the corner of the endzone. Did he forget he has two of the best receivers in the game? Martz continually shows he's a bad coach with some of the best talent in the league. If it weren't for Vermeil winning it in 2000, this Rams squad would go down as the most disappointing team since the Oilers of the early 90s, or any Dolphin team of the last 30 years.Originally posted by NYYFAN

I was just about to post something very similar. Martz took over a team loaded with talent. He's proven nada as head coachOriginally posted by Looie #19

like Brian Billick, Martz seems often to let his ego get in the way of doing what's right. Oh well. I hate the Rams anyway.Originally posted by Looie #19

And as far as being THE most disappointing team? What about the late '90s-2000 or 2001 Vikings?

I was originally going to mention the Vikings, but their window of opportunity with Dante and Randy isn't closed yet. They'll certainly be up near the top of the list if and when it does.Originally posted by DaBoys4LifeNYY35

I suppose i was talking about the end of the Cunningham years when it was Randy, Carter, and Robert Smith...and the beginning of the Culpepper era when that group of offensive threats was still intact. Daunte and Randy can't do it alone.
Something tells me the current Eagles are going to end up on that list too.

Lest we forget the founding fathers and number one most disappointing NFL teams ever, the early 90s Buffalo Bills. However, I think their biggest disappointment was 1990, when they were favored against the Giants. They ran into 3 of the best teams of all time in the 1991 Redskins and 1992-93 Cowboys, but 4 straight is 4 straight.

Number one most disappointing team is debatable, but they certainly aren't the founding fathers of disappointment. That title goes to Bud Grant's Vikings.Originally posted by Looie #19

The Vikes also made 4 other trips to the playoffs under Grant, but never brought home a ring.

One of the worst calls I can remember. He was playing scared. Giants fans refer to that as "Fassel ball." He even said in the post game press conference that he would rather take the 3 points than put the ball in the air and risk having it get picked off. Well THAT'S confidence in your quaterback for ya! Fool. I think it was Esiason on the post game who said Lovie Smith may finally get his chance to be a head coach - of the Rams!Originally posted by NYYFAN

I agree, fire him. Too much talent to get the results he gets. And too many bad decisions.

Sort of. Since football season takes place during two different years it's just a matter of semantics. The regular season takes place in one year while the plyoffs take place in the next, but it's all the same season. So really the '68-'69 Jets won the Superbowl. It's the '69 Superbowl because it took place in January of '69, but the bulk of the season happened in '68, so it's the '68 Jets.Originally posted by uconnhoopz123

So technically the '69 Vikes lost the '70 Superbowl, etc.
