It's reported that the Yankees offered their two cents on the Red Sox acquisition of Manny Ramirez: the Red Sox would have been a whole lot better off by picking up Mike Hampton AND Denny Neagle for $176 mil, as opposed to Ramirez and his bat for $160 mil.

I have to agree 100%. With Pedro, Hampton, Neagle and whoever else they could patch together, they'd have been FAR more formidable than they'll be now.

Geez, you'd think Boston would figure out that pitching wins championships, not the big bats and a pack of rag arms! LOL

Somebody has to spell it out for them, hold their hand, change their diaper. 83 years isn't so long ago.

I don't think Neagle and Hampton would be enough to cancel out "the curse".

    I'm lovin' it.

A few weeks into Spring training and they've already given us some good laughs; overweight Pedro reported to camp when felt like it, Nomar is fielding balls with a cast on his wrist, Manny waits 'til the exhibition games start to tell Jimy (with one m) he's not going to play left- Jimy (with one m) concedes to his demand, Cone, their #2 starter, gets lit up in his first start,.... all of this and we still have the Everett meltdown to look forward to!
    Hail to the REDSKINS!

    LOL!

When will the Red Sux realize that Pedro can't pitch everyday? Manny usually hits the opposite way so Fenway is NOT the best park for him anyway.

This is getting to be too much like fun......

The Sox #3 starter Nomo joins in.......

    Minnesota 5, Boston 4 (6 innings)
FORT MYERS, FLORIDA (TICKER) -- One day after David Cone got hammered, Hideo Nomo took his first-inning lumps for the Boston Red Sox.

Nomo yielded a grand slam to Torii Hunter and an RBI double to Corey Koskie in the first inning and the Red Sox suffered a 5-4 loss to the Minnesota Twins in a Grapefruit League game shortened after six innings due to inclement weather.

The Red Sox signed Cone and Nomo as free agents in the offseason. But Cone allowed five first-inning runs in a 7-1 loss to the Texas Rangers on Saturday and Nomo did the same on Sunday.

Koskie, who re-signed a one-year contract with the Twins on Saturday, went 3-for-3.

Minnesota starter Joe Mays pitched two scoreless innings for the win.

Troy O'Leary hit a two-run homer to highlight a three-run fifth inning for Boston.

Where have you gone, Bernard Gilkey, Red Sox nation turns it's lonely eyes to you, wo wo wo

At the Sad Sox current rate, Ramirez is going to have to knock in 632 RBIs to keep pace with the inflationary ERA outlook.

    Oh man...the Red Sux.
Already sqawbling like chickens amongst themselves. And you guys are right: Everett hasn't even joined the fun yet!
This is going to be sweet!

Oh man! This is getting to be even more fun after today's game! What's next, Tomo Ohka and Rolando Arrojo both get lit up in the first inning as well? What's gonna happen when Pedro blows his arm out from throwing too hard and under pressure?

HEY !!!!! Please stop picking on disabled people. It's not Snarl Eeverett's fault that he is was born with his brain in his colon. It will take him a while to remember where he left his foot and how to get it back in his mouth.

Snarl is a dedicated little redsox and will not doubt make his contribution to the team eventualy. Please don't rush him.

I mentioned the Hampton/Neagle vs. Ramirez angle to a Red Sox fan at work today (I'm in Maine, they're rampant) and he was aghast at the realization that Duquette had duped him yet again. It was priceless!

    We have El Duque.
The Red Sox have El Dupue.
