Well about the only thing in my mind that can prevent the Jays frm making the post in 2000 is 1) they duplicate they're '99 tremendous choking act, or 2) they implode from within for NON baseabll reasons... they got the talent, player for player, they're more balanced than anyone not named the yanks in the al... and they have gaston back in the fold...

but they also got the volatile boomer... last seas he requested a trade before the allstar break and now this seas hasn't even started and he welcomes his new teammate Mondesi who actually WANTS to be there unlike his predecessor Green who demanded he be traded, in typical boomer style, to make headlines... here's the dirty laundry:

Mondesi "is no big deal," Wells told reporters. "...We should never have traded Shawn Green."

unh, unh, unhhhh... not the way to start a seas, not the way to welcome a new guy especially one as emotional as mondesi, and not the proper example to set for a young team in need of leadership... loved ya when you wore da stripe boomers, but you get a grade of "N K" on this one in my book... Not Kool...

Nothing like rolling out the red carpet for Mondesi eh? He's right though. Green is a better player. And Mondesi is never happy. But you know Boomer! Coudda been a little more tackful

Oh man Boom!! What were you thinking?! I see a trade request in Boomers future! Don't sound like a happy camper to me! I guess I wouldn't be either if a great player like Green was missing from a lacking ball club!

Am I the only one who feels this way, but, wouldn't Boomer look great in pinstripes again?

can't help but wonder if he said that about mondesi so the jays would get a little bit of trade fever going on...

BTHL - i would love to see him in pinstripes again, but the facts have to be considered -at 36 he isn't a spring chicken and we already have two aging pitchers, besides, who could we push from the rotation to make room for him?

I would be the first one to welcome Boomer back.. but the only way that happends is if we trade Mendoza, and then Yarnall just doesn't get the job done..thats the only way I see Boomer wearing the pinstripes again..

That's the way to make friends and influence people eh Boomer? I think he's just trying to piss the powers that be in Toronto off so they trade him.

Very true Mr. A39. But I still feel bad for poor Boomer. I don't think he will ever get over that last trade. Hey, who could?

I agree Mish. When they let Boomer go last year, they let him go for good. I don't see him coming back.

I will always remember what he did for the team, and I will also remember how comfortable I was when he was pitching for the Yankees in October. I was hardly nervous at all during Game 1 of the ALDS v Texas or the ALCS v Cleveland in '98. I felt things were under control w/ Boomer on the mound.

He's been outspoken his whole career...this is nothing new...I will remember him always for his outstanding pitching when he was with us, not for his interview skills.

I still like Boomer, but I don't see him back in pinstripes.

Mondesi is a fragile individual. This is getting interesting. I love it when the competition starts self destructing before the season starts. Maybe boomer wants to go to Atlanta for Rockhead....Atlanta is in a real bind with that clown. Boomer would seem like a candidate for the Noble peace prize compared to Rocker.

Clevland would take Boomer in a heartbeat.

Yeah I know, I still miss him too... How could you not like a guy who absolutely LOVED everything about New York from the Yankees to Letterman...

I just wish he'd just stick to pitching and stop always proving his critics right by his off the field stupidity...

SHUT IT UP Boomer, and just pitch, and you may have a chance of makin' it to October...

Boomer has a great arm, but his head never was screwed on tight. He has been his worst enemy.

What is it about lefties that always seems to make them a little quirky. Not that quirky isn't a fan attraction but it sure can mess with your pitching.
