Closing of threads

I know there is a policy on this message board and certain people seem to get a little touchy when certain language is used, but i'm begining to sense a little unfair bias here. Since the ending of game 4, three threads have been closed. They all shared one thing, criticizing yankees in a non-sugar coated manner. Now, i know this is a Yankee fan site and i am a yankee fan, but in terms of closing thread because of language, i think this site may be a little hypocritical. Someone calls Weaver a loser, thread closed, Toree an idiot, thread closed, something else bad about Boone, thread closed. Yet, and again i know this is a Yankee fan site, the thread titled "Pedro: Complete Pussy" was never closed nor even mentioned with the least bit of objection. Is it ok to use foul language and name calling when it is about a non-Yankee? Why should fans be restricted from voicing opinions about their own team's players in a slightly less pc manner, but its ok to be extremely vulgar when talking about a rival. This is something that has kind of bothered me after a semi-rant(yet logical and backed with actual baseball talk, not name calling) thread about Boone's poor performance as a Yankee was closed a few weeks ago. And it seems tonight that a similiar hypocricay is being displayed. Please, someone respond with more than read the policy followed by a link. And hopefully this thread wont get shut down before someone does.

To address your concerns, threads typically aren't closed solely for language. Threads are closed if they are not up to the standards of this site, period.

Yes. And that will always be the way it is.

What you see isn't hypocrisy, it's called enforcing of our community standards.

All of these threads are critical of the Yankees in some way and are currently active and open.

When a thread gets out of line, we close it.

If you want to vent your frustration about the team in a "less than PC way", there is an entire forum on this site dedicated to talking about the Yankees in a "less than PC way".

What's the big conspiracy here? This is the way this site has been run since its inception. It's the way it is going to continue to be.

If you're concerned about the use of the word "pussy" in a thread title, then I'm sorry. One thread with a harsher version of the word "wussy" in the title does not "hypocrisy" make.

I'm not asking you to change you're site or how its run and i am certainly not concerned with the word pussy. But my question actually wasn't answered, is there a good reason why a poster can call Pedro a pussy, but if he calls Boone an idiot or even a pussy for argument's sake, the thread would be deemed "out of line"?

Theoretically, bashing of any player isn't allowed.

Given the situation, the emotion, and the anger, I don't think calling Pedro a pussy is that big of a deal.

I guess we may be more stringent on bashing of Yankee players, but generally it's not allowed period.

As I was browsing around the forums after the game, I was really impressed by efforts of the Mod staff. I think they stopped a lot of pointless, ugly flame wars before they had a chance to fully catch fire.
