Who did Andy Pettitte compete with when he had a 20 game plus winning season???

What do you mean by "compete with"?

    Sorry guys,
Maybe I didn't make my question clear enough. With the 20 plus winning game season, who was Pettitte trying to beat?

    I believe this person's record was 28-7. I think....
Yes Hentgen was going for CY, but that wasn't the player I was thinking about...

Pettitte as all ballplayers should, competes with himself. Sorry if that is not the answer to your question.

okay so my question didn't get answered. I notice people asking trivia questions. maybe I don't know how to do it. The answer is Ron Guidry who went 22-8 for the Yanks in either the 70's or 80's. I can't remember which.

I think it's the way the question was worded. If you had asked what Yankee's record was Pettite trying to break, perhaps the response you were looking for would have been forthcoming. We're not trying to be difficult, I know I just didn't understand the question.
