Who else wants us to play the Cubs in the WS? (I think I'd rather play them than the Fish, for historical reasons but also... this Fish offense scares me a little. )

If (as seems likely now) it goes to Game 7 tomorrow, I hope the Cubs win. But how would this affect their rotation? I assume it would mean Wood wouldn't pitch Game 1 of the WS. Does anyone know what the Cubs rotation would be exactly?

I was going through some photographs last night and came across one from the 1998 ALCS (I think) against Cleveland.

The 3 outfielders: Manny Ramirez, Kenny Lofton, Brian Giles.

Another question would be if your American League team were going to the World Series (I'm not saying which team), wouldn't you want your National League opponent to go 7 games instead of 6 and perhaps be a bit tired, or just as tired as your own team, and not have their best pitchers available the first two games?

In all honesty, I'd pick Chicago.

We have to play the Marlins. It's been a long time coming, but if Mariano hadn't given up that home run to Sandy Alomar, we'd have played them before and probably have won 4 WS in a row!!!

I think it would be Clement, Zambrano, Prior, and Wood...

First, The Yanks need to take care of the biz tomorrow. Second, the Cubs are toast...

What a classic game! The events that transpired in the top 8th (the 'fan interference', Alex Gonzalez error, and the slew of hits that followed) will go down in history (or infamy, from a Cubs perspective) if the Marlins manage to win Game 7.

Now there's a question. Only thing is, if (G-d forbid!) the Yankees go seven games and if (G-d willing! ) go to the World Series, the NL winner will still be more rested since we're only playing Game 6 tomorrow.

Although this isn't football, I HAVE to say this comeback was prolly about as good as the NFC Wild Card where the 49ers came back from behind to beat the Giants last year...

Bah, you still won't hear "Congratulations Marlins." Bah...

I'm watching the Fox local news right now....moving around from Sports Bar to Sports Bar...Funny how the Cubs fans' hats, shirts, etc is all "brand new"...Yeah....Real ol' Cubbie Fans...been waiting all this time for a WS shot??

At least the Marlins fans were able to break out their "7 year old" WS shirts/hats/memorabilia...for this run... faded & worn as it was...at least it wasn't just purchased at a "Sports Authority" store last week!...

A tip of the hat to the Marlins, but a shocking, demoralizing loss for the Cubs that does not bode well for Game 7. I'm also worried about Dusty Baker's autopilot strategy--I would have left Prior in for the 8th, for sure, but why was no one even warming up? Why intentionally walk Hollandsworth with 2 outs to get the bases loaded for Mordecai with Farnsworth pitching (usually not a good idea to have your flamethrower on the hill with the bases jammed)?

I believed that the Cubs had to win Game 6 to win the series. I just do not care for the Wood/Redman matchup; Redman's stuff is not compatible with the Cubs' hitting (although at Wrigley...). Everybody except Prior has to be ready to pitch for the Cubs tomorrow--if Wood struggles, then I want Clement. The Marlins will probably have Penny ready for the same reason.

    The question is now:

*Are the Cubs prepared to repeat history... (1984, anyone?)
*Or are they going to make some... (I had an idea that they were going to choke in Game 5 of the NLDS as well)

All I can say is that the game after a demoralizing loss sucks. Remember Game 7 in '85, '86, '02? Not good for the team that blew it in Game 6. I'm just devastated right now; if you're going to loss, at least lose it on a some good hits.

I've been rooting for the Cubs, since I recently lived in Chicago, albeit briefly, and I love Wrigley Field. But in truth, I'd rather face the Marlins in the WS for two reasons.
    1) I fear Kerry Wood, and I fear Mark Prior.
    2) The whole country is going to be rooting for the Cubs if they beat the Fish tomorrow. I know a lot of people already hate the Yanks, but it's just going to be sickening to me, if the Cubs beat us in the WS, to hear everybody swoon about how wonderful it is that the Cubbies have finally made it.

By the way, I'm saying this partly in jest, but partly quite serious here... THE CITY OF MIAMI (OR FT. LAUDERDALE) SHOULD OFFER THAT CUBS FAN "ASYLUM," LIKE A RENT-FREE APARTMENT. Think about it. It's only fair. He's not safe in Chi-town.

I hate to be selfish here, but I'm bummed that our game tomorrow is going to be at 4 AGAIN...I guess we were spoiled for a lot of years -- this sucks. I'd rather them on separate channels...ugh! okay, rant over.

Nice comeback for the Marlins...they are a scrappy team...Pudge is amazing again which is good to see...and that fan in Chicago? Didn't you feel sorry for him? He's lucky if he makes it through the week...if that was in NY, they would have gotten that guy out of there right away for his own protection.

I just heard on the news that the kid got a police escort for his safety. Right to his car. LOL.

I was watching my 24: Season 2 DVDs, and then turned it off just in time to find out that I had missed one of the most amazing/bizarre comebacks EVER. What a game, even just watching the highlights I couldn't believe my eyes. Unbelieveable! They will still win it tomorrow thought with Kerry Wood going for them & all.

On Verge of Series, Cubs Falter
Moises Alou's run-in with a fan on a foul fly was part of a stunning Chicago collapse in the eighth inning. Game 7 is tomorrow night.

The sad thing is that it was'nt called interference-the ball was in the stands, the fan did not reach out over the wall. Now he will probably have to change his address.

I hear you. I actually took a personal day tomorrow to have some dental work done early in the day. I picked tomorrow in case the ALCS made it this far and now I'm glad I did. I missed most of the game today but at least I taped it.

I wonder how Mr. Maddux feels, having gone to bed, his Marlins down 3-0.... wonder if he knows, or if he really went to sleep. If he really did go to bed, he's gonna have a very nice suprise in the AM, but will be mad he missed that unbelieveable comeback.

That fan better start running because if the other Cubbie fans catch up to him it isn't going to be pretty.

I am pulling for the Cubbies to go to the WS, but this was a huge loss. I hope they can recover from it and win tonight.

I am so bummed that they couldn't win last night as I was praying for the Yankees to play tonight. These back-to-back 4pm games are killing me. As we won yesterday at 4pm maybe it will bring us good mojo again today.

NYYFAN - I was hoping that you'd start it tomorrow 'cuz I've got tickets to the game.... it was just a cameo, I'm leaving this kind a thing to the real starters.

I'm going to bed now...happy & dreaming of a great Yankee win tomorrow.

No way. It'll just make people hate the Yankees more for further lengthening the 100 year drought of the Cubbies or make them bigger busts for being the team that ended said drought.
