"The LOSER-BOWL", A's vs. Red Sox

I had an opportunity to go to todays "pivotal" matchup between the A's and the Red Sox but decided it was not worth driving 2 hours south to witness the "LOSER-BOWL".

I'm sorry, but as great a baseball fan as I am, I have great resentment
towards these two teams due to their animosity towards my Yankees.

Everytime I've gone to Oakland Coliseum, I've had to listen to "Yankees ****" and I know the idiots from Bean-Town are the same. So I've decided to PASS on a free ticket and let these two clown-teams battle it out to see who gets molested by the Yanks in the ALCS.

BOSTON: "I don't want it -YOU take it!"

OAKLAND "No, I don't want it, YOU take it!"

    B-B!

Am I WRONG to feel this way?????????

Why go if you can't cheer for anybody? The best seat otherwise is right in your own living room. I hope whoever loses tonight gets a planeride from hell going to New York.

One of them is going to be exposed as a pretender tonight. The one left remaining is still a pretender, just a better pretender than the other.

I have Game 5 tickets for which I had hoped to seek a refund. I will attend to watch this anti-tug-o-war and hope that it goes 18 innings with all pitchers spent and exhausted.

THAT'S what my friend said "You're NUTS", but the truth is there's going to be some HOSTILE people there in Oakland if the A's lose (a DISTINCT possibility with a well-rested Pee-dro Martinez opposing them). I just bought a new truck which has a bumper sticker reading:

"If you ain't a Yankee Fan - you ain't DIDDLY"

I don't feel like coming out of the game to a smashed windshield.

These are RAIDER fans, you must remember (and THEY ain't happy about THAT either!)

Maybe not a Buddy Holly or an Emelia Airheart.. but maybe some turbulance that makes them stop 5 or 10 times along the way

Right. I wouldn't want a tragedy, but if nobody gets any sleep and they run out of air-sickness bags that would be fine. BTW, jet lag is one-day removed from the flight, so the effects appear on Wednesday, not Tuesday. Couldn't have worked out better.

No question this will be an exciting game. I'm not saying it WON'T be - probably one for the history books - and it the Yanks were involved I would be there no matter what, BUT, since I'm not EVER going to root for one of these dweeb teams, I'll be sitting there drinking beer and eating peanuts and saying NOTHING??????

    That's just not me, Battah-Bhing!

Well you could go, consider the lesser of two evils, and do your small part by collectively heckling Pedro into a hanging curveball or three! Battah-Bhoom!

    I'm with your friend....you're crazy.

And no, nothing to do with the fans and their possible reactions to you or whatever team you like, but mainly because it's a deciding game of a series with two of the best pitchers in the game right now going head to head, no matter who the teams are I don't think I'd ever pass up an oppurtunity to go see that up close, to each his own however.

Come on, I know the Sox have their history but isn't it funny knowing that the a team that makes the playoffs every year (but who's fans can't even sell the place out) simply CANNOT win a deciding game??

I'd go. Just keep a low-profile and watch what has the potential to be a great post season game. To even get to a post season game in person is a rare opportunity in itself.

I'd go just to chuckle at both sides. And I'm certain there will be things to chuckle about.

I know the feeling of being in an opposing teams den. I went to Boston Garden early '90's to watch the Canadiens play the Bruins. On my bumper were stickers for the New York Yankees, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Cowboys and Michigan Wolverines.

Some Boston fans took note of it and kind of "O-o-o-o-o-o-o-e-d" at my car. So I turned it around to face the wall so no one could see the bumper stickers. Montreal won 6-0 and I roared out of the lot at 90 miles an hour.

Nowadays, I don't have any stickers on my newer car. But I would definitely go to the game as you'll get to see a great pitching match-up PLUS it's a Game 5 finale.

    Please win A's!!!
The Yankees have been blessed with great players over the years. Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Phil Rizzuto, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and now Mark Teixeira to name a few.
