I know us Yankee fans wouldn't want to admit this, but this kid is going to a superstar in a couple of years. He's only 20 years old and he's already batting .311. You know the media is going to create a whole NY shortsop rivalry soon.

The kid does look like he'll be special. But I wouldn't bank on a NY shortstop media thing. By the time Jose starts really blossoming, Jeter is almost certainly going to be playing center.
He does look like a good player. He has great speed and an awsome arm. He looks like a guy that will hit for a high average and around 20 HR's. The Muts did one thing right this season and that was bring up some good minor leaguers. Reys, Phillips, and Wiggington is the start of a decent core of players for the future.
That said they still can't carry the Yankees jock straps!!!!!!!!!!
he was at .279 to start the month... his play in the field is what impresses me.
Look at his August numbers. He is AMAZING this month and through most of July. He's been one of my better fantasy FA signings, along w/ Phillips.
He brings such energy to that team.

one of the bright spots for Mets fans this year was Reyes and it's nice when a highly touted prospect actually lives up to the hype...good move by the mets to let him work things out this year when the season was lost anyway...the Mets have a few good young players...
It will be interesting to see how things work out with the Mets first round draft pick from this year -- he had been expelled from high school for improper contact with some very young girls and the Mets knew that when they drafted him, then when it surfaced in the press, they suspended negotiations with him...I think they've now come to an agreement...I guess we'll have to see how this plays out...
The kid is playing well and his enthusiasm for the game is apparent.
