    O's @ Fenway, 8/8

I figured I'm not gonna stay f/the whole thing, but might as well get a decent GT in (that's game thread to you newbies out there).

Anyway, O's leading, 2-1, and hopefully, they'll be broomed @ home. I present to you the ever-pretty but highly unreliable Sportsline (reminds me of a not so good girlfriend ):

Thanks. I didn't know they had 2 games today. Would picking up a game and a half today be too much to ask for?

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten that the next one's at 7:05pm. Now wonder they're on like a weekend sched and it's still Friday (TGIF).

Anyway, I'd much rather pick up a game than lose, but I still figure they'll split this and we'll win. We could be up by 4 at the most or only by 1 at the least.

    Anyway, I'm out shortly.

    3-1 O's, bases loaded with 2 outs.

Jay Gibbons flied out, and it seemed deep enough, I don't know why no one tagged up.

O's just got out of a bases loaded situation.

  6. #6
2 homers for the Sox knotted it at four.

But the O's are hitting this inning. 3 runs, runners on the corners, 1 out.

I see that Kim's the only newbie who's been decent so far. Williamson's supposed to be their setupman, but he allowed 4 runs in, w/only 1 out.

Well if you're gonna friggin' retouch a picture, why not at least make the nose bigger, instead of smaller!!!

From the Little Rascals, Buckwheat I think, was asked what retouching meant. He replied, "Well, you touch a picture, then you touch it again."

    BWA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

David Ortiz to hit a 2-out 6-run HR w/bases empty, coming right up!!!

Good to see Bill Mueller go 0-for-5 today, Jeter has a chance to gain some ground on the batting title.

Good job D-Lowe....look at it this way, you can always say you no-hit the Devil Rays.

2 things give me the right to do this:

    1) Nomar makes a lot of money

    2) I actually like Nomar. Despite being on the Red Sox, I don't hate the guy. I root for him to fail constantly, and especially against the Yankees he is a nemesis, but deep down inside I don't hate him.

Williamson was booed off the mound. Welcome to Boston Scott... :finger1:

Sauerbeck let another couple of inherited runners score. This Scott has also been less than spectacular. Dare I say that, overall, Orosco has been more effective...

Oh, and the Orioles are one powerbat (Miguel Tejada?), and one ace away from being a serious play-off threat...

Little doesn't know how to use Sauerbeck, since he faced a lefty (Bigbie), righty (Fordyce), switch-hitter (Roberts). Ideally, he should've faced at least two lefties, but him facing a righty and a switch hitter didn't make much sense, despite getting two outs. From the ESPN Game Log, as posted earlier on page 1:

    -S Sauerbeck relieved S Williamson.
-L Bigbie flied out to center.
-B Fordyce tripled to deep right, J Cust and D Cruz scored.
-B Roberts grounded out to third.

    7 runs, 6 hits, 0 errors
    Baltimore 10, Boston 4

BTW, Fordyce has a .636 SLG, so Sauerbeck shouldn't be facing righties at all.

FWIW, Fordyce's triple was on a liner that Trot Nixon tried to catch on a dive. The ball wound up rolling behind him. A faster runner probably would've had an inside the park HR...

Sauerbeck's been pretty awful. This is a guy that was very effective against righties in Pittsburgh. I always viewed Sauerbeck as much more than a specialist. He hasn't given up many earned runs with the Sux, if any at all. However, his inherited runners have been scoring at an alarming rate...

I see you're in the devil's pit down there. You watched this on NESN?

Oh well, Trout's supposed to be the one who can play RF best, so if he messes up, I figure the ball must've been hit pretty well.

Sourpuss allowing lots of inherited runners? Sounds like Doza in '02.

    Affirmative...

Nixon essentially played a definite single into a triple. Considering the score, he made the right decision in going for the catch. There were runners at the corner with two outs at the time, so the only additional damage was Cruz scoring from first...
