Fan Arrested in Baltimore for Throwing Cork at Sammy!!

    Breaking News on ESPN's site...here's a snippet:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=230610101

The game was interrupted in the bottom of the eighth when a fan ran onto the outfield and threw cork at the slugger. The fan was apprehended and arrested.

I think it's hysterical...I've heard so many people calling into radio shows today asking why Sosa is appealing the suspension...he's admitted doing it, claims he wants it to just go away, yet he appeals and keeps it going..

I normally don't like the idiots running on the field but in this case, I'd like to shake his hand! dang I'd love to have seen Sammy's face!

Anyone know if they showed it on Baseball Tonight?

I too find this story amusing, especially since being beaned with a cork would be harmless.

I doubt that Baseball Tonight will show the highlight.

I've been adamant about how Sammy should be reprimanded about this whole thing, but I don't find this that funny.

They said that they had no video on it.

I think throwing cork at him is funny. Running onto the field is less humorous.

Harmless? He could've hit somebody in the eye!

Seriously though...I thought it was funny.

Seriously funny? That's weird. That's not really what I meant, but it sounded like it to me when I read it...oh well. You know what I meant.

Now that picture is funny. Running on the field throwing things at players is not so funny.

My thoughts exactly, especially with the recent incident of a drunken (or stoned?) fan attacking the umpire.

I hope that clown (not Sosa, the other one) gets the book thrown at him!!!
"We understand that John Henry must be embarrassed, frustrated and disappointed by his failure in this transaction. Unlike the Yankees, he chose not to go the extra distance for his fans in Boston. It is understandable, but wrong that he would try to deflect the accountability for his mistakes on to others and to a system for which he voted in favor. It is time to get on with life and forget the sour grapes."

People who run out onto the field during a sporting event should be publicly flogged.

my buddy had the right idea. bring a poster and make sure sammy sees it.

i was at the game last night - if you're running onto the field, it's pretty obvious the crowd will initially react with a cheer, then boo you, and then ultimately murmur to one another 'what a pathetic loser that guy is....must have real mental issues'....

the guy running on the field is an ass. He could easily have thrown cork at Sammy from the seats, just wait till he got close I'm kidding.. it's wrong..

the sign thing was awesome though

One of these days, someone is going to run on the field, and they are going to get the snot beaten out of them.

I think we all know that Baltimorons aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.

This reminds me of when John Rocker got mooned on the field, a few weeks after he made his, now infamous, bigoted comments.

It happened last year. Remember the two lowlifes (a father and son, no less) who attacked a coach (I think) in a game that the K.C. Royals were playing in? When they took them off the field that looked like they had the sh*t kiced out of them.

geez of all the things a fan in bmore needs to be doing.they need to wondering whether or not the borioles gonna do some winning. it's time to give the sosa issue a break . he who is without sin cast the first stone. if you livivn in a glass house don't throw stones. like you or anyone elses poop don't stink. sammy's not perfect and either are you or anyone else who's trying to pass judgement. the only person who can do that is GOD. and sence NO ONE on this earth at this time is. these are the points we ALL can ponder.

We don't want fans running onto the field, or throwing things. It's all or nothing. We can't say it's ok when it's funny or when it's "harmless".
