    Vento promoted

He was 0-3 in his debut at Columbus at DH. Rumer has it that they are holding Thames out of game in hopes for a possible trade for Kenny Lofton. Personally I'd rather they promote Thames but you can't knock Lofton and his $1 million (2/3 left) salary.

    from mlb.com
    06/05/03 Columbus Clippers (AAA)
Fernando Seguignol - Reinstated from Disabled List.
Fernando Seguignol - Transferred from Columbus Clippers to Tampa Yankees
Brad Elwood - Transferred from Columbus Clippers to Staten Island Yankees
Michael Vento - Transferred from Trenton Thunder to Columbus Clippers
    Bring back Ted Lilly!

They can afford to trade Thames because of Vento. Vento is younger and is regarded as a better hitter than Thames, so they don't lose much there.

This is a good point. Vento and Thames have similar skill sets and a similar career paths. Thames finally came around after years in the minors with a great year in Norwich a couple years ago. In that same year, Vento finally got his game together with a monster season in Tampa. Both can play CF, although are more suited for a corner spot, both are right-handed, and I think both have a chance to be useful utility guys on the major league level.

    Vento's Bat is hot

I have seen Michael Vento play in many games at all levels, but this
weekend was my first to see him in the AAA level against the Knights.

One word sums his play (and has always sumed it): Exquisite

In the first inning, he BLASTED a 3-run homer on a first pitch fastball.
The fence in CF is 405ft. This ball left the stadium!!!

Then in the bottom of the 1st with one out, a fly ball to mid RF, runner
on 3rd. He makes the grab, runner tags, and Michael burned him at
home with a perfect throw. This was the 2nd burn in AAA that I know
of. My guess is not to many 3rd base coaches are going to send their
    runners anymore.

His last AA game was June 4th, he is still on many of the
    league leading catagories.

His current AAA stats courtesy of baseballamerica.com:

International League » Columbus Clippers 06/05 to 06/16

G AB R H TB 2B 3B HR RBI SH SF HP BB IB SO SB CS DP AVG OBP SLG
