Yankees show interest in Eric Duncan

Rated as the best New Jersey High School hitter to come along in years
Currently a third sacker, he has great left handed power and is comparable to Chipper Jones at this stage of development. Down the road Left Field or First base.A possible First round pick?

M07 can we take him in the second round.I want them to select Hughes in the first round.Boy that would be news ha ,the Yanks making there first two picks from HS.By the way I have been E- Mailing YES and requesting that they cover the first 10-15 rounds of the draft or just the Yanks pick's.A little back up wouldn't hurt. Thanks Mo7

Yea ,I know that.Thats what I've done for the last few years.I believe MLB .COM covers it now but I'd like to see them when there picked on TV.You know like a little clip of the player and maybe a scouts profile on the player and why he was chosen.I've said for years now there is no reason it can't be on TV.I mean even the NHL draft is televised now.

I agree, but it will have to be promoted at least the first 10 picks.

If size is the most important thing they should draft Sturt Pomeranz from Tenn. he Is bigger than Hughes and has more than one pitch to work with.

Duncan most likely will be gone by the time the Yanks pick in the 2nd round, so if he's there and there is no stud pitcher on the board then I say take him!. Jim Callis of BA said that there are some concerns about Hughes arm and that his secondary pitches are not very impressive. Not exactly first round material. Duncan is a very good hitter with legitimate power and has very good hands at third base.

Pomeranz sounds great but he's not listed in any ones top 100.Well take him in the second round. As far as hughes shoulder goes you can have it checked before the draft and any agent worth his salt would put out that info to keep intrest in his player. As far as a secondary pitch goes well teach him that.I'm more concerned about his arm.

BA has its mock draft listed and they have Duncan going to the Reds at #14.They have Hughes going to the Phils at #86.They have the Yanks going for a Lefty hitting first baseman Sanisi? They state the top need for the Yanks is Lefty hitter's.I disagree I say Pitching ,Pitching and even more Pitching!!!!

Lefty hitting firstbaseman? Why? Don't we have Giambi, Nick Johnson... and that other guy in Norwich?

The Yankees should be concentrating on lefthanded pitching, 3rd base, catcher, and outfielder.

Vincent Sinisi is a fine talent but signability could be an issue with him. First of all, he's just a sophmore, and his advisor is none other than Scott Boras. I think I'd pass.

T enough said,BA is off on that one because it will be a cold day in hell before the Yanks sign a Boras draft pick.Good info by the way.

Wrong Hughes. Phil was drafted in 2004, not 2003. The Hughes discussed here was Jared Hughes. Here is a link to their scouting report:

Edit: oops, a minute to late. Didn't mean to pile on, I started this posting before I saw any other responses.

And for those curious, Iceberg had the first mention of Hughes on this site:

Funny reading that stuff again. As terrible as Poterson turned out, Rainville's arm is shot and Gio is passed around like a rag doll from trade to trade

    NJASDJDH on a roll

    Adenhart won't sign with anyone.
I want no part of Street.

Most number 1 picks dont pan out to their "projection."

And, Ill reserve judgement until he is Henson-like with his failure. He is still only 22.

    Most likely Scranton Wilkes-Barre.
