I would post it but everyone would laugh so I will keep it to myself. He is a pitcher and he gets not respect. He is an afterthought. I think he is the most valuable player in the AL if not baseball but no one in the planet agrees with me.

Definantly Barry Bonds.

Barry Bonds is so juiced up, he looks instable in the outfield, and slow running the bases, but neither is true. This man is fast and excellently defensivley. Tony Gwynnn himself said he dreaded no LFer more than the Barry Boy himself. He made only 3 more errors than his typical gold glove years, and though he his no longer gold glove, he isn't horrible, he is pretty darn good.

A-Rod is great defensively and offensively. Barry Bonds is good defensively and god like offensively where A-Rod does not even compare...a man who hit 57 home runs!

Now that's amazing. I wonder how Nikolai Bonds will do when he gets older...

The difference between ARod and Barry defensively is a lot closer than the difference between those two at the plate.

Bonds is the greatest all-around player in baseball.

I'd say Bonds logically, but after he dropped that ball in the WS (Game 5 or 6), that brought him down a notch.

Anyway, I voted f/Vlad. Perhaps he needs a little time before that may be right, but I think he's got a crapload in the tank.

a) what does that have to do with anything? Roids or not, elbow shield or not, if he does it he does it. The runs and wins count the same.

b) what does that have to do with anything? The poll's not about the best value, it's about the best player. If you're better, you're better, regardless of what you make.

All-around I have to say A-Rod. Bonds is good, but A-Rod is younger and his limits are unknown!

It's great to oooh and aaah at the arm of a right fielder like Vladi or Mondesi who can really throw, but how much of the value of a right fielder is actually in his throwing arm? Vladi has run up some horrific errors totals and yet all he has to do is make an impressive throw and half the people watching will go away absolutely certain he's the best right fielder in MLB.

How many folks think Raul's just fantastic? He's got a good throwing arm, but if you watch him long enough, you realize that judging a fly ball, getting a good jump on a fly ball, throwing to the cutoff man etc. . a whole bunch of other unglamorous skills make up a guy being a really good right fielder. I haven't watched Vladi every day, but those huge error totals make me wonder if he's all flash and not much substance in the field.

Best Hitter? Barry Bonds, without question (as drug-aided as it might be)

Best All-Around Baseball Player? Alex Rodriguez

Bonds is a great hitter, but is a rather poor defensive player.

And A-Rod is so great on both offensively and defensively that he takes the title of Best Overall Player (active today, of course).

I did enjoy Bonds having such fun in the field against the Angels, I was one of those guys yelling at the TV..."Use your glove, you dumba**!" Trying to stop the ball with his bare hand...:rolleyes:

Gotta go with A-Rod. Tough call with Barry and Vlad in there. But as an "all around" player I think A-Rod qualifies.

Vlad, who by the way, actually did 40-40 in 2002. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about and are saying he did 39-40, that's what will go down in the record books, but not really what happened. On, I think, the second-to-last day of the season, Vlad hit a ball that bounced off the top of the outfield wall and back onto the field. Legally, that was a homer, his 40th homer to go with 40 SBs. But the umpired conferred and ruled it a double. Well, even without the 40-40, Vlad can do everything: batting average, homers, RBIs, stolen bases, his BB-K totals are actually pretty good, great arm, etc etc.

I still can't believe this guy only strikes out 78 times a year being such a young player, free swinger, and monster masher. He's an awsome player to watch.

Gotta go with Bonds. At a much older age than A-Rod, he hit 70 points higher, had an OBP of 190 points higher, and slugging of 176 points higher. Those differences are much more than substantial, and not even the best steroids should be able to make that much of a difference. Also, it wasn't long ago that Bonds was a great defensive player.
