Any other long-suffering Islander fans out there wondering if the new owners will finally allow the Isles to put a competitive team on the ice?.... These last bunch of years the Islanders would have had trouble competing in the IHL or AHL......My fingers are crossed.

Yeah- I took the kids to the game Saturday night-boy did they look bad! Flat as a pancake-that 6 minute power play was a kiler! I think we have to realize it'll take time-the players are young, and I think expectations may be a little too high. It takes more than money to build a team-(as Yankee fans we always make that argument) and this franchise has been in the dirt for so long that it needs time to recover- In the meantime, it's easy to get tickets, there are lots of promotions, the players sign autographs and the kids still have fun, so I can live with it for now.

Me too Silly.....Surely we'll never see an Islander team like that one again in this lifetime.....God I miss those guys....What would Bossy, Trottier, Potvin and Smitty be worth in today's market?

It sure is starting to look like a long season! What game should I take the kids to so they can see a win? (and don't tell me the Yanks, not till April anyway!) They've been to about 10 games and have yet to see a win! Do you think the Isles could beat the Wild or BBlue Jackets? I want them to see a W (and not Bush!)_

Hey Dan, the mighty Atlanta Thrashers come to the coliseum twice in December.....That looks like about as good a shot at a win as they've got.

Scoreless overtime tie with the Devils last night......That'll enthuse folks to spend a couple of hundred dollars to take the kids to more Islander games. ::::yawn::::

I can sympathize with you guys. I'm a lifelong Canadiens fan, and I can barely stand the misery these days. The recent shake up in Montreal was long overdue, but it doesn't give me any hope for a decent team any time soon. There just isn't much talent anywhere from the big team down through the minors. It's going to take years to repair this mess and put a true Cup contender on the ice.

BTW, when you start feeling down about your team, just be thankful your not a fan of the Whalers/Hurricanes. Besides all of the other horrible moves they've made (think Ron Francis, Ulf Samuelson, Kevin Dineen, Mike Liut, etc.) they drafted Chris Pronger, traded him for Brendan Shanahan, traded him for Keith Primeau, traded him for Rod Brind'Amour, and have him on the block. As individual trades, none of them look really bad, but consider that they could have Chris Pronger, but instead have a Rod Brind'Amour that they don't even want. I've got ten bucks that says they trade Brind'Amour for an over the hill veteran or a overrated young guy who never pans out. They can move where ever they want and call themselves whatever they want but they are still the Whalers.

There are a lot of similarities in the demise of the Habs and Isles....The only two franchises ever to win four or more consecutive Stanley Cups, are both in shambles, trying to regroup under new ownership....I think a strong, contending team in Montreal is of paramount importance to the survival of NHL hockey in Canada.

That follow up 1-1 OT tie was a thriller too,Jack, though I've got to say old Beezer looked good. I still think of him as a Ranger, though! Hey, at least they picked up 2 points over the weekend! As the Python boys would say "Always look on the bright side of life!"

Living here in Florida for the past seven years, I think of Beezer more as a Panther.....Anyway, he's just holding the fort until the kid is ready.

Althought Hockey is a sport I fidn it rather kewl to know that they can make a movie out of it.

    Sudden Death!

    I lvoe that movie!

Name a sport that doesn't involve making a movie?

Maybe the key to Islander success is to not have their games televised! They finally won last night, but the game was nowhere to be found-Maybe they are like the U.S. Supreme Court-keep away the cameras!!!

Here in Orlando, FL area I sometimes get to see the Islanders on TV when they play Tampa.....They haven't been on ESPN more than twice in the seven years I've been here....If there truly was a Santa, I'd get a satellite dish for Christmas.

Well, on the bright side, my 9 year old daughter wrote a fan letter to Mariusz Czerkawski, and he sent her back a personalized autographed 8x10 color photo-At least they are nice to their young fans!

    Break Up The Islanders

Finally a win!!!! Another 20 or 30 in a row and they've got a shot at the playoffs.

to paraphrase Britney (I have a 9 year old daughter) Oops, I did it again, I went to a game, I thought they might win!

My poor son has been to 9 games the past two seasons and hasn't seen a single winning effort-not even a tie- Not even a regulation tie with an OT loss!!!! He sat at the breakfast table this morning, chanting "Mike must go" he's 6! this is getting serious! He is such a sports junkie-I can picture him in 8 years, with his chest painted two colors and screaming like a loon!

The Isles are a long way from being competitve. It would help if half the team wasn't injured and if they stopped taking such stupid penalites!

I agree with your son....Mike must go and take Butch with him.....How much longer are the fans expected to endure the Milbury debacle???? It's beyond disgraceful at this point....If there is anything he did worse than general mismanaging, it was scoring goals......Ol' Butchie was a great second line center and penalty killer.....He was the key acquisition launching 4 Stanley Cup championships.....
However, his coaching leaves a lot to be desired.....It is
    TIME FOR A CHANGE!!!

Well, at least the Islanders have won one game in 2001!

Tonite then play the Senators who are 6-0-2 at the Nassau Mauseleum! Another long season for NY hockey fans!

    The Isles will be competitive...

as soon as they transfer to the AHL.

Potvin STILL sucks!! And beats his wife.

I thought all Isles fans were Mets fans. I have neer met a Yanks-Isles fan.

No- there are lots of combinations- i see lots of Yankee gear at Islander games- it is a myth that everyone out here is a Mets fan-just like we don't all have big hair, or talk like Joey Buttafucco! Some of us even don't like Billy Joel! (that could get me voted off the Island!!)

Islanders actually beat the Rangers at the garden 3-2 last night.....Too bad they can't give the home fans the same thrill when they play on the Island....They might be able to sell a coupla extra tickets and maybe even generate some interest in the team.

Too bad they can't win two games in a row- a dissapointing debut for young Mr. DiPietro! At least they're off till Wednesday- maybe some rest will do them good!

    Well, there they go again!

It's bad enough for this team without the refs giving the Flyers two goals-Now Wang says he's keeping Milbury! It's going to be a long 4 years in more ways than one!!!
