Here's one for you: Which players played in World Series with the Yanks in the recent dynasty, AND with another team?
I count 15 of them, with a few just missing out. Anyone want a crack?

Are you referring to just the "'96 to '00"teams, and only those years played in WS (any specific year?) f/other teams? Or would the '95
be included also?
David Justice -- Braves, 1995*, 1996; Cleveland, 1997
David Cone -- Blue Jays, 1992*
Luis Sojo -- Blue Jays, 1993*
Paul O'Neill -- Reds, 1990*
Chuck Knoblauch -- Twins, 1991*
Luis Polonia -- Braves, 1995*, 1996

Sojo did not play in the 1993 Series.
Mark Wohlers did not play in the 2001 Series.
John Vander Wal did not play in any World Series with the Yanks.
Did Ruben Rivera play in the 1996 Series?
Do you mean Sterling Hitchcock?
Well, I was counting 1996 to 2001, excepting 1997.
You missed a few players (so did I, reading your list).
You're right, Sojo was on the '93 TOR team, but not the WS team.Originally posted by C. Bellinger

Same w/Wohlers on the '01 Yanks. Vandy shouldn't have been included, as I was misinterpreting it to mean "present Yankees".
You're right, the only "Rivera" in the '96 WS was Mo. In fact, I don't see his name in the '98-'01 WS either.
I just correct myself to change John Sterling to Sterling Hitchcock. (man, I gotta lay off that good brew!!!)I just added the name "Darryl Strawberry -- Mets, 1986*" to the list.
Rueben Rivera didn't play in 1996 -- he made that really awesome throw from RF to home plate at the end of the regular season (or maybe it was against the Orioles in the ALCS -- can't remember), injured his shoulder, and had to go on the DL. Never been the same player.
What about Boomer? Didn't he win one with the Jays in '93?
And Roger Clemens and Wade Boggs? (Sox 1986)
Plus:
Mariano Duncan (Phillies 1993, Yanks 1996)
Jimmy Key (Blue Jays 1992, Yanks 1996)
Chili Davis (Twins 1991, Yanks 1998)
Mike Stanton (Braves 1991, 1992, Yanks 1998-2001)
Boomer didn't play in the '93 WS. You can confirm all others by clicking here, but the players must have been on the WS team, not just the regular season team. Please make sure you click on the words "World Series" f/each year to find out the WS team members, and the team's name to find out the regular season team.Originally posted by penguin4

OK, then, maybe not 1993 -- because he was with Detroit! But in 1992 he did (that's probably what I meant all along actually). And I have confirmed all the others already.Originally posted by Jersey Yankee

I'd forgotten to mention Dwight Gooden, 1996 NYY, 1986 NYM.
Doc didn't play in 1996, actually, though Torre let him watch from the dugout. His shoulder blew up (as did his ERA) at the end of the year and he went on the DL. Because for the longest time (I think even still) the answer to the trivia question, "who's the only guy ever to play in a World Series with the Yankees and Mets?" was Darryl Strawberry.Originally posted by Jersey Yankee

I can't remember whether or not he played in 2000, though....
penguin4,
You're right, he'd never played in the the '96 WS or the '00 WS.
I've gotta start research things before posting.![]()

That play was in the first game of a doubleheader against the Brewers (then of the AL). That game was the game they clinched the AL East. That game was a blow out in the 2nd inning, but the Yankees fans all realized it when the game ended.Originally posted by penguin4

Oh yeah, by the way....I was at that game....got a ball from a Brewer relief pitcher, that he tossed up into the stands from the visiting bullpen....A brilliant catch by your truly, if I must say so myself.![]()
Add Jay Witasick's name to the list.
2001, NYY; 2002, SFG.
