The biggest of the many problems the Red Sox have is they have given up! After listening to the interview Johnny Damon gave to Charley Steiner before Tuesdays game the answer is clear. He said they are looking at the wild card standings, not the race with the Yanks. There is no positive thoughts on there club if they are not shooting for #1. He was also asked how the Sux could overcome the Yanks and his answer was,"I guess if 25 of there players went on the DL" There is the answer to the question right there,they have given up! I guess the Bambino is still in there heads!

That was a pretty grim outlook. I think it comes from the top in Boston. The fans expect to never win again. They rant and rave but in their drunken hearts they harbor an overwhelming terror of another year without a World title.

The pain of that experience makes them the irational YANKEE haters that they are.

How demoralizing it must be for sox players to hear the same stupid mantra every game at Fenway. If you were a sox pitcher pitching against Toronto or Clevland and all you heard behind you all game long was "YANKEES suck" how would it feel to know that your fans were so obsessed with the YANKEES that so many of them were barely following the game being played?

sox management keeps laughing. They know that sox fans will keep paying regardless of how the sox pay as long as they are able to indulge their obsession with the YANKEES.

It is all a very weird phenomena.
