    Game's over

even Ulcer Urbina can't blow this one now.

Lowe can't pitch this well much longer, I'd say by July 15th he will be getting booed again very loudly at Fenway

Isn't it nice that at least Dirty Sox tries being modest? It would be nice if others did this as well.

OK, I'll give you that one, you didn't gloat _too_ much. That said, I'll wait for the M's series twice, the A's again (hope you see Zito, Mulder and Hudson), White Sox, Yanks twice and Jays.

I think this forum will have a royal field day if/when Clemens pitches against you guys.

that would be impressive, except that Roger is shook to come back to Fenway this year and get shelled

he's shook to go to shea too, (shea stadium, not hillenbrand)

I wish he would pitch against the sox, I was really really dissapointed when he didn't. And it seemed obvious to me that he didn't on purpose

pitching on 3 days rest to fill in for El Duque??? c'mon now, the Yanks have like 200 pitchers, Clemens didn't have to pitch that day, he didn't want to go to Fenway.

Clemens has already beaten you guys at Fenway: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxsco...meId=210831102

That wasn't the first time he's taken the ball. Last season, he did the exact same thing, getting an ugly when due to run support when he wasn't very effective. It's more of a dumb idea on his part, just like when he tried barehanding a hit ball on opening day. Immediately fell apart on the mound right afterwards.

What difference does it make where he pitches? He's pitched before at Fenway and won. I don't get this thing that everytime the Yanks play at Fenway, it's always gotta be Clemens vs Pedro to suit Sox fans' need to test the old vs the new, nor do I see why it should even matter. If anything, you should be happy he didn't, since he knows Fenway better than Pedro does. That and he's what I consider our most effective big-game pitcher (think of 2000 ALCS w/15 K's and Game 7, only 1 ER). I'd liken his being out of that series to Freddy Garcia being out of the weekend series that Sox have.

I dont' know what's the difference to you whether or not Clemens pitches at Shea Stadium? He's pitched at the Marlins' stadium in interleague, he pitched at the BOB on Game 7. This seems to be carried over from the Mets fans who will always hold this up to us.

Has anyone ever asked why doesn't Piazza learn to take a HBP like a man and not grab some nobody pitcher by the collar and just charge the mound or call for one of their guys to be HBP?

It's always "Roger must pitch here, Roger must face this pitcher, Roger must pitch there". I get tired of all that stuff.

I know he's won at fenway, I'm in no way imlying that Clemens at fenway is an automatic L, that's ridiculous.

It's not that Clemens "must" pitch at fenway, or at shea.

But the Mets problem is completely different, Clemens through at Piazza's head, then he threw a piece of the bat at him, he was trying to injure Mike Piazza, imagine if he'd thrown that piece of the bat as hard as he could?

"Oh, but he thought it was the ball"

Then you throw it to first, not at the baserunner. Then, when it's Roger's time to face the music at Shea stadium, Torre sticks up for him and his foul intentions and sits him, so he wouldn't have to be up in that batter's box and get a taste of his own medecine.

I know as a Yanks fan that move makes sense, why endanger your ace? Obviously you'd sit him when you know he's gonna get thrown at.

Just try and imagine that it was some other pitcher that did all that, then tell me that pitcher shouldn't pitch at Shea.

Imagine if the bat that Trot Nixon threw at Ryan Rupe would have hit him. That would have been much more damaging than the half a bat that Clemens threw in front of Piazza at his feet.

Is anyone actually following the game?

It's 5-1 with one out in the fifth ... Hillenbrand singled, Nomar up ... and he grounds out moving Shea to second ...

Either I'm too sleepy or I missed this in English class in HS, what does "he's shook to go to shea" mean? Am I the only one who doesn't remember that as proper English? Is that a New England thing?

Yay! Ichiro walked, stole second, stole third ... and scored on a single by Sierra.

6-2 Seattle ... in the top of the sixth.
