Nice! I'm still waiting for my first ball.
One time, I got to the stadium and some guy and his young kid were sitting in my seats. Trying to be nice, and since the two seats next to mine were empty, I figured I'd just sit in them until someone came along and asked me to move and then I'd boot the guy who was in my seats. Sure enough, a foul ball bounces off the facing of the Loge and goes right to the guy in my seat! The shmuck was too slow to get it and it bounced to the guy on the other side of him.
The next time someone sits in my seat they will get my boot in their ass!

Congratulations!! Thankfully, the pains-in-the-ass that sat in front of me on Old Timer's Day weren't present to prevent your souvenier! LOL!

Wow, JP, I'm so happy for you! How did you catch the ball, did you bring a glove to the game? Were people all over you trying to get it? Maybe you can take a picture and post it for us. Anyway, say hi to Ally, and congratulations!

Hey JP,
I know you are so happy that you caught Jose 446 homerum ball.I hope you got Jose to sign your ball. I saw on TV here in San Francisco(well the replay). When I was in New York at the old Timers Game there was a guy in front of me that caught O'neill home run ball. I when the Yanks were in Oakland and I yelled at Jeter throw me the ball and he did but it went over my head and some kid caught it.

That's awesome! I was at the game last night too, but sitting upstairs behind home plate. A few came near our area but nothing to get excited about. I'm convinced that you only get one shot to catch a foul ball/home run and I think I missed my shot. About five or six years ago I was sitting in the main boxes behind the Yankee dugout...well, I was moaning to my boyfriend that I wanted ice cream so finally in like the 6th inning we left to go to the food court for some tasty Carvel. We were watching the TV in the food court and saw Charlie Hayes foul a ball off near our section. When we got back to the section, the guy sitting behind me told me that the ball HIT MY SEAT!!! He wound up retrieving it - he said it was a rocket and that I probably would've been hit by the ball. I didn't care. So anyway, now I'm convinced that I'll never catch another foul ball b/c I missed my chance...for ice cream. Congrats again JP!
Awesome JP!![]()
Down with YM's Tino Ball Shrine, in with Canseco's!
Nice Play!!!! CONGRATULATIONS>
Hey thats awesome that you caught a hr ball. I've never been to a M.L. game before, and believe me I would give my left leg to see a Yanks game. I've never been able to get tickets (I'm in VT, nearest is Boston and THOSE tickets are impossible to get, they played Montreal this year right in the middle of softball season, and my parents refuse to drive in NYC. I'll have to wait for a miracle before I can get to a Yanks game.)
Very cool that you caught a homerun ball. One of my mothers co-workers has an autographed Roger Clemens ball, and I am beyond jealous.

What they said, JP... I'm incredibly happy for you.
Closest I ever came to catching a ball was during the 98 playoffs the Indians were taking BP at Yankee stadium and I was sitting in the section right before the RF bleachers -- HR territory. Someone -- I think either Justice or Ramirez -- hit a hard one right to me, but the kid in front of me, who was about ten, I imagine, reached over and caught it in his glove... I missed it in my cap by inches. I wasn't too upset though... after all it was the Indians, and that kid had been waiting all night to get it, so I guess he deserved it. Even in his glove, though, he complained that "it hurt like hell".

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
Earlier this season I caught a homerun ball. It was during batting practice and from the opther team. I was excited but catching a homerun during a live game from a power hitter. That feeling must feel great.

Marry Me Jeter, if it wasn't for JP, I would have missed the chance too, I was at the concession stand when he caught it! I heard the screams for the homer so I went to the doorway and looked in, saw the HR, got the sodas and came back. JP said really loud, "guess what you missed?", so I said, "no, I saw it", and he said, "did you see this?" and held up the ball! I said "holy sh-t" in front of the whole section, who all cracked up laughing! Nice I'm so ladylike, right?!? Anyway, we waited around outside to try to get Canseco's autograph, but we were unable too, he was kind of on the other side of the "walking-out" area, so he didn't hear JP yelling that he had the ball, he just kind of waved and got in the car, it was a car service, so they didn't really stop at the corner or anything, we ran up there too, but he just kept waving.
Well, that was that, it was totally exciting even if I wasn't there for the big moment, and I'll try to take a pic and put it up here for everyone!

I wish I had that kind of luck. The only luck I get is if someone says here have my soda.
But really Congrats.
That's totally cool, JP! I was at that game, so I guess I saw you catch it in person, even if you were a white blur!, especially with all the high fives going aroundI know tons of people who've been going forever that have never gotten a HR ball during a game ... it would be cool if you got Jose to sign it, too bad you weren't able to catch him after the game.
GoYanks!
Don't count on Jose signing anything. About three years ago, I was staying at the Hyatt near Grand Central Station in NYC (apparently, this is where the visiting teams stay when they come to NY) as I prepared to take the NY Bar Exam. We were unloading the car out front and Jose came strutting out of the revolving doors. I stopped in my tracks and said to my friend (who knows nothing about baseball) - "Oh my god, that's Jose Canseco." Now, I am not a Canseco fan so I didn't like run after him to talk to him or anything. At that time, he was on Oakland and I could have cared less if I met him.
Anyway, a bunch of people went running down the block and caught up with him. They asked him to sign stuff (balls, pictures, etc.) He turned them down flat and just kept walking up the street toward the station. It was disgusting. I mean, what was he really doing that was so important that he couldn't stop and sign for a few minutes. It's not like there was a mob of people, only four or five. If he's still like this, it may take a lot to get him to sign the home run ball. Good luck!
JP,
Hey now that was an exciting game. Great catch. I can just imagine how you felt when you handled that ball cleanly.
Now go and find a suitable display ball holder for that treasure.
It's priceless. Great work!
