I've looked at the fall-off of quality, after you get by Schilling and Johnson..
last years fantasy point highs fall off dramatically after those two..

couldn't finish that one the way i wanted, but now I have.
I took the top 17 pitchers, and top 17 hitters, and compared their fantasy value last year, based on our scoring system.
The top 17 hitters wound up with 12,000+ fantasy points..
The top 17 pitchers wound up with 7100+ fantasy points..
the list of hitters i took were the top 17 point-winners from the top 50 slugging percentage hitters. At home I have about 400 hitters in excel to work with, but here at work i just picked a category and did 50.
the list of pitchers I took were the top 17 point-winners from the top 50 in ERA. At home I ain't done ................ with pitchers, and that's why ya didn't see me drafting many pitchers early
What's that you say? Era isn't a great indicator of points? I agree..
I did a second list of the top 17 point-winners from the top 50 in Strike Outs (a good indicator, because you need innings, and lotsa ks get you wins).
The number was VERY close (difference of 88 points or %1.2)
Now.. there are 20 players on the roster, 7 pitchers, two of which are relief spots. None of the top 50, in ERA, or K's, were closers or relief pitchers.. cuz starters accumulate more stats.
so possibly 5 starting pitchers.. where quality decreases, obviously, as you go deeper into the rotation (unlike mine, where the quality is just plain missing)
And 8 position players, with a DH.
No, I don't think pitching wins..
for ................s and giggles, i'm gonna go back and add closers into the mix of the two gruops of 50.
1 clarification.. it's 1 point per inning, or 1/3 of a point per out, right?
I thought it was 1 pt. per out. If not, I'm in some trouble.Originally posted by Bozidar

but i read this in the league settings: "Innings Pitched (3)"
Well, then it IS 1 point per out. Don't scare me like that, Boz!Originally posted by Bozidar

Basic principle at work here - 1 point per out, 1 point per base. So an inning is three points for the pitcher. If you try some sample box scores, including hits, walks, runs, and strikeouts, 1 point per inning penalized the pitcher too much.

If you can't read this, i'll post what it said.. but I totally missed when the switch was made.It WAS 1 point/inning.

I hear what you're saying about penalizing the pitcher too much.. i just wish i had noticed the switch.
here's one i know we can all read: http://forums.bronx-bombers.com/show...4&pagenumber=1
Sorry, mate - guess I didn't make the new system clear enough when I registered the Yahoo site. Want to trade for Paul Abbott?
