You do realize that 75% of that film clip is reenactment, don't you?
Mays played baseball. Mantle was baseball.

When Ted Williams was playing, he was noted for his batting eye. If he took a pitch, the umpires almost always called it a ball because they knew how good Ted was as seeing the ball and judging it's position in the strike zone. Ted had phenomenal eyesight. He always told people that he could pick up the seams of the ball from when it left the pitchers hand and could almost immediately tell what kind of pitch it would be. Ted also claimed that he could smell the minute burning of his bat whenever he hit a ball. Ted had phenomenal sensory abilities.

Similarily for Jackie he was known for his speed and for his base stealing ability. I don't know how many times Jackie stole home, but I am sure it was quite a few. I am sure that on a very close play any umpire would have given the edge to Jackie.

Yogi is one of my favorite players; probably my most favorite as you can tell from my avatar, but from my above comments, the Umpire called Jackie safe so he was safe. Sorry Yogi.

Yogi is a National Treasure. Let's put him in a National Hall of Fame. The man has no peers.

Exactly. And if you look hard at the reenactment - then Jackie is still safe.

What was it that was always said when playing in little league? Wasn't it something like "tie goes to the runner" ... when a call is made.

For me, it is so hard to tell. But out of respect for Yogi, I must say "He was out!!!"
