    Knicks Fans Don't Give Up!

After the dreadful, disgraceful 43-point loss on MLK Day, the Knicks have now won at Toronto, against Phoenix, at Milwaukee and tonight against the defending Eastern Conference Champion Philadelphia 76ers.

It's quite obvious that the loss of Jeff Van Gundy took some wind out of the Knicks sails. It got worse when they lost a ton of very close games. Michael Jordan beat us with 15 or so seconds left, the Rockets beat us at the buzzer, the Celtics beat us in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter, etc. Those close games that resulted in losses certainly sent the Knicks morale and confidence in a downward spiral.

I am happy with tonight's win over the 76ers for 3 reasons (I know there are some 6ers fans up in here such as YanksRockMan and #1PaFan, enjoy guys!):

    1) Nobody on the Knicks team had a big offensive game tonight. Houston and Spree were outright awful. Camby wad dismal. Our 2 best players offensively were Jackson and Ward. Our high scorer had 14 and we still won the game. A pleasing sign.

    2) As incredibly overrated as he is (it's disgusting how much undeserved praise this man gets), Allen Iverson is still a dangerous player. The Knicks contained him.

    3) For the first time in a long time I saw a real, hardcore old-fashioned New York Knicks game. This was the most boring game I have seen all season. Offense in the game was non-existent. It was slow and unless you got 8 or more hours of sleep last night you had to fall asleep while watching this game. A slow, boring, horrible to watch, heavily defensive game is the way the Knicks win.

Sure it's only a 4-game win streak and the Knicks are still 7 games under .500, but what can I say, for the first time all season I am actually excited. Let's keep it going and to all the real true Knick fans: STAY AWAY FROM THE NETS AND STAY REAL TO THE KNICKS!!!

A.I. overrated? Nah, I don't think so. He was the MVP last year of the All-Star Game and the season, and could repeat this year if Michael Jordan doesn't stand in the way. As for yesterday's game, I have to admit, the whole game sucked. I wasn't too crazy about the game yesterday. It was the most boring game in the season, but wouldn't you knickerboxer fans think that the hornets pounding of the knicks was pretty boring also, even though it was fun watching the knicks get their asses whooped.

Yet, the knickerboxers are showing that they have the productivity to make shots when they have to, and this helped them beat all the four teams in the row. Well, good luck to your knickerboxers!!

    But until then, go SIXERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Kidd and KG would be the most obvious road blocks. i'm definitely NOT a.i's biggest fan, but he is not overrated. the guy deserves every praise he gets. Yes he shoots a billion shots per game, but you have to look at the kind of shots he takes (wild, off-balance shots), and he NEEDS to take all the shots he can cause he's one of maybe two guys on that team that can make shots (ok, maybe i exaggerated a little on that). still, AI is the best player pound for pound in the league.

as for the knicks' situation, yes new york has a chance at the playoffs, but a first-round exit is as far as they'd get.

MJ standing in the way? I can name at least a dozen guys putting up better numbers than MJ and Iverson who I would give the MVP to in a second over both of those guys. Most notably Paul Pierce, Jason Kidd and Kevin Garnett.

Iverson is a great player, yes, but there is no doubting that he is overrated on a whale-like scale when you watch him play and then see how the media praises him. The man shoots a sub-par percentage night after night.

Honestly, I don't think the reason their confidence dwindling was caused solely by Van Gundy leaving. If you look back to last season, they were already setting a trend of inconsistent play intermingled with bad losses during the 4th quarter. They were already well on their way to complaicency... It's just that Van Gundy forced them to bounce back from all those bad losses (I mean, seriously, the guy always looked like he was going to go on the court to energize his team...). Cheny has been taking a different approach and has been letting the team deal with their problems in a quiet more comforting way...

This game really did remind me of the Knicks though. They won because of the defense, which they have been lacking as of late. Though boring, I guess defense is still what I prefer from this team because God knows that we don't have any premier shooters. The equation of poor offense and good defense is what I'm used to. Hopefully they can figure out that defense is the key.... Not that I'm saying that our scorers can slack of. It's just that they also have to focus on defense, especially Houston...

The knicks rule!!!! I'll love them no matter what. I don't care if they win or lose. I'll always be a true knicks fan. I just wish that they didn't trade chris childs. He was my fav. player on the team. He was awesome too.

The Knicks shouldn't give up on the lottery, but they should forget about the playoffs.

The Knicks front office practically forced me to become a Wizards fan this off-season. If you go to realgm.com, you can see for yourself how long the nightmare will continue. These contracts are absurd.

I could never be a Wizards fan. I just hate Jordan so much. I will remain loyal to the Knicks. I do really enjoy watching Sacramento and Dallas play. I also have been watching more college ball and remain loyal to St. John's and Maryland.

I am a HUGE Nets fan. I just got home from the Nets-Knicks game. The Knicks really suck. I am not wearing fan blinders, but the team is just terrible. J- Kidd is the MVP. Knicks should stink bad enough to get Jason Williams in the lottery. He is a great PG.

I'm still scratching my head why Allen Houston, a great shooting guard w/defensive liabilities gets paid $100M over 6 seasons. $75M, I can see, but if they need to move him, they've just made him unmovable.

    Absolutely, they overpaid for Houston.
Actually, I was refering to the Weatherspoon, Eisley, Anderson fiasco, with honorable past mentions going to Charlie Ward, Travis Knight....

LOL, yeah it will take the Knicks years to be good again... Try like 2 years when Jason Kidd becomes an unrestricted free agent

Well, it's time to throw in the towel. Last place in the division at this point means there's probably not gonna be a revival, especially after losing five in a row and nine of eleven. (I'm not a Knicks fan, btw, so I'm giddy about this... )

Every report that I have read and heard about has him staying in NJ. He will not leave us. He is "The Man" here and he loves that. With the Yes network about to start up and the Nets on it....George wont let him get away. He is the reason for the success. He will have a network to feed his ego! And when they bring in Tim Duncan, well we will keep the Knicks down like the dogs that they are!!!!

I think we're all confused about this move. I mean, even Houston himself said that he wasn't expecting that much money and that he would have accepted a lower offer. oy vey. They have 3 point guards and don't know what to do with them, they don't have a center, they overpay their shooting guard... I swear Layden doesn't know what he's doing...

Perhaps that Duquette guy was their special adviser or something.

I'll admit being less than a Knicks fan when the anti-Ewing chorus got him sent packing but regardless, if you're a GM with any team, I can think of one primary goal:

    (a) What do you have?
    (b) What do you need?

At $75M, Allan could've been tradeable. Now, since you're not talking one of the better all-around players for that $, no way. They should remember what they had back then:

Ewing, Mason, and that tough guy who's 6'9" who subbed for Ewing when he was hurt. Anyway, those were the defense guys. Knicks vs Bulls, Knicks vs Heat were always classics and Knicks wouldn't allow any unbruised baskets if you drove straight in.

I don't know who they should get but less money to do this with by overpaying by $20-25M over 6 years.
