Thread: Is Pookie Banned?

  1. #1
I logged in under a different spelling, because it appears that my password has been disabled. Can someone let me know what's up?

  2. #2
It looks like I am. First my password gets changed, and it wasn't me who did it. Then I fix the password, only to find a message saying that the Administrator has prevented me from posting. Just about as cowardly as throwing at someone's head.

If you can't beat 'em - ban 'em.

It's somewhat surprising because I heard in other forums that this was the place to go to play hardball. If you guys ever want to make this a forum worth visiting, let me know. Otherwise - you can go back to your boring existence with all 12 posters.

hey Pookie or Pooky, I hear ya......
I truly believe Jim's staff wouldn't do a thing like that, but if they did, Jim should have a serious talk with his management. We all respect Jim a lot, but if his management isa going to mess up his respect well then things have to change. Thank you for letting us know how you feel....

    We'll miss you Pookems.

Thanks, Seahose. Pookie is actually the name of my cat.

Here is a list of the top 5 names that I have been called in my 2 days here:

    5) Pookems
    4) Pokie
    3) Dookie
    2) Spooky
    1) Pukie

I understand I have probably ticked a lot of you off with my anti-Yankee banterings. Don't take it personal. It's all part of the game of life. Thanks for the laughs. Remember - humor is food for the soul. And for God's sake don't ever take yourself too damn seriously. As Shakespeare wrote: "Life is but a walking shadow. A poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot - full of sound and fury - signifying nothing."

You're O.K. Pookie. I don't take myself seriously, and I don't know anyone else that takes me seriously either. Shakespeare had it right. We're all just dust in the wind. Sartre said "life is absurd". Aristotle said "the dead are dead". Fellini said life is a circus. Samuel Clemmens ...

    I take everything seriously...

I still say that a distinction should be made between "fans of other teams" and "Yankee haters".

In "Eleven World", fans of other teams would be welcome. Yankee haters could take all their whiny vitriol somewhere else where all people want is a good laugh... for my part, it got old REAL fast...

    Unfortunately, this ain't Eleven World...

I've seen too many forums and mailing lists turn into boring and tedious slam-fests just because of one attention-hungry a$$hole with too much time on his hands.... I've since unsubscribed from them, because they ceased to be either fun or interesting.

For that reason, I recognize that a certain degree of censorship is NEEDED for real-life online forums...

Tell me - were the Pookie posts really that inflammatory or unacceptable? If so, I'd like to know which ones.

More like annoying and mean-spirited... and intended to bait people. There are too many examples to cite... the stupid "Reva Shane" thing comes to mind, however... that was 1) not great humor, and 2) insensitive considering the guy just ended his season at a time when he's not such a spring chicken.

In almost every post it's transparent that your main objective is to bait Yankee fans and to express your extreme hatred for the team. To me, that's not enlightening or interesting. If you were a fan of another team who came in here without a chip on his shoulder and you had a lot of interesting baseball discussion to contribute and a lot of FUNNY jabs to make, I'd be welcoming you with open arms. But that's not the case...

There's nothing left of him except a greasy spot.

I've been quiet up till now, and dedided to take a few days away from posting since things got heated over the weekend. But based on the circumstances here, I am breaking my silence.

What's UP, Jim? Please tell me you didn't have these two relative newcomers removed from the board... who have THEY hurt? I've been reading their posts and while clearly they don't bleed pinstripes (thank GOD there is still some sanity left in the world) they were not anywhere NEAR as offensive or intensive as I have been.

If anyone deserved (?) to be put out, it is me. I want to believe that this is some mistake, but it would be a LARGE coincidence if these two are the only one's who are disabled on the board today.

If you banned them, then I'm walking too. Maybe that's the game-- flush 'ole Pedro out of the woodwork and have him walk away , so no one can say you banned ME. Or by booting these other folks who at least appeared far more appropriate than me, you figured I would flame you and you can feel "good" about bouncing me, too? I am speculating here, Jim, and I'm hoping I'm wrong.

So come on out and tell the truth, Jimbo, or expalain how this mistake occured. We both know you're watching and reading this thread. I have respected you and your approach since I first came here to post, so I am WANTING to give you the benefit of the doubt, here. Let's clear up this mess in a HURRY, shall we?

Too sensitive... Do you know who Reva Shane is? Heck - Spence even looks like he could be her sister.

The only comment I made about Spencer which I feel bad about now was the statement, "his knee buckled like Jeter facing Benitez". I made this statement before I knew the injury was serious. After that - I actually expressed sorrow for Shane's injury - and provided some medical information about the injury (which I recovered from).

And another observation if I may. It is human nature only to notice the insults that apply to you or your team. Take an objective look back at several of the derogatory statements made by Yankee fans in here. Blowmar, Nosemar, 1918, Red Sux, Pukie, etc. If you are going to apply such high standards, apply them fairly. Otherwise this forum will never have any credibility, and will become stagnant and boring.

I grow remarkably less sensitive if you actually succeed in being funny... see PP's post about Chuck's throwing.

The comments about the "BloSux" & "1918" were very rare before the arrival of PP and yourself... a direct result of your baiting. We are all human, unfortunately...

Furthermore, I don't think it's at all unreasonable to allow more latitude for the Yankee fans since this is, after all, a Yankee fan board. If I went to a Red Sox board for baseball discussion, I would expect some good baseball talk, but I certainly wouldn't be arrogant enough to expect all the "Skankee" quips to disappear on my arrival, for fear of offending me... I mean, get real. It's there primarily for the Red Sox fans, I would be reasonable.

    Capiche?

    I know Reva Shane!

YES, I have used the word Nosemar.. My bad.. but hey, I am a Yankee fan, its expected! Just as you and PP are Red Sox fans, you are not suppose to agree with us.. You were potty trained to hate us Yanks fans..

This place was boring before you red sox fans invaded us. ITS true, admit it.. No one posted here, and people had to MAKE up topics to start a little debate.. Your topics and debates were real, and even though you were not correct... it was good to have them here.. If this becomes a only yankee fans forum, or if we go back to nice nice stuff.. I am walkin.. Not that I will be missed.. but, I like a little excitement.. Geez! Why bother if its ho hum drum..

You all take baseball, waaaay too seriously.. Its about fun, enjoy.. And lets just do battle with Red Sox fans.. its the Yankee tradition!

Pookie, Pooky, Pookums, whatever you'd like to be called-

I work hard to make sure that this forum remains a place for civil, open minded, objective discussion of the New York Yankees. I have not seen that you are capable of doing this. Please accept my invitation to visit the forums at ESPN.com - the conversation there is about on your level. If at any time you choose to participate in the aforementioned style of conversation, you are always welcome here. But if you are here to cause trouble, please don't waste my time (and yours).

    Thank you for your cooperation.

First of all, dump the tough talk. Capiche, yourself. I've got friends on Federal Hill who will show you 1918 ways to say I'm sorry, and have you BEGGING to wear a Red Sox cap.... Capiche?

You make a salient point about the things one might expect to encounter on a Red Sox board, but I will PROMISE you that one of them WON'T be expulsion. Christ, we have an obnoxious (being redundant here of course) Yankee fan (I'm not giving him a plug HERE) who calls our Sports Talk show in Boston ALL the time. His parting comment yesterday? "All Red Sox fans take it in the ass". Lovely. What a shining example of the "enlightened" yankee fan he is, huh? I challenge you to point out ANY post I, or these other two people have made that even comes CLOSE to that filth?

And he has NOT been put off of a 50,000 watt station, which I was listening to on the INTERNET for Chrissake. But you and you little 600 member message board can't DEAL with me, or then others? Taking ourselves a little too seriously, are we?

C'mon, folks, what have you got to say?

I don't even know what to say. I feel like I'm living some twisted version of Animal Farm. I should have kept my mouth shut.

    Bite me.

Where do I begin on your flawed logic in that paragraph? So difficult... perhaps I should begin with your convenient usage of one asshole caller as your representative of all Yankee fans. A perfect example of your un-objective attitude... I'd never signle out one jerky Boston fan and say "see... they're all such awful people..." I know that that's just ignorant and inaccurate.

Furthermore, that sort of language from ANYONE, Yankee fan or otherwise, if it was chronic and ongoing, would, I guarantee you, lead to banishment on a sensibly-run forum. Just because others don't uphold that standard doesn't mean that Jim has to follow suit.

And he has NOT been put off of a 50,000 watt station, which I was listening to on the INTERNET for Chrissake. But you and you little 600 member message board can't DEAL with me, or then others? Taking ourselves a little too seriously, are we?

This: Yeah, I take stuff seriously. I'll never apologize for that... I care about stuff. Get over it.
