Thread: IMPORTANT: Regarding "Database Error" messages

    Hello Everyone-

On occasion, people are sent to a screen that says "There seems to have been a problem with the database", or something similar. I know this because I get emailed whenever it happens .

What I NEED to know from anybody who has gotten this error is, what you were doing when it happened. Were you editing a post? Deleting a post? Making a new post? Were there a lot of other people on the board? Most importantly, are you able to complete what you wanted to do at some other point in time? Etc...

This will help me to fix the problems, which I have no idea what they are.

    Thank you VERY, very much

I was trying to go from one post to another, I think -- either that or I was searching for recent posts. I'm iffy because my AOL was being extremely sluggish and it was taking a really long time to load everything. It's moving a lot faster now that it kicked me off and I signed back on, so I'm not sure if it was the website or just my dumb computer that caused the message to appear -- I'd thought it was another form of that screen that says "internet server error... this webpage could not be displayed.. press refresh" or whatever....

I don't know if this is the same problem others are having but since last weekend when I attempt to access the forums from home using Netscape I can't get in. When I first go to the forums page, the layout is all messed up with countless ads for www.images.com in random places throughout the page. When I try to click on a forum I get a Netscape error message that says "Netscape is unable to locate the server: whatever forum.php. The server does not have a DNS entry." I was having the same problem at work earlier in the week until we were upgraded to a newer version of Netscape which hasn't been a problem so far. I also have no problems when using Internet Explorer at home but my old version of Netscape just doesn't seem to be able to handle the forums here anymore.

    Hi Deborah-

No, that's a totally separate issue that has been dealt with. It should work now, though. Thanks for the heads up .

    Penguin-

Do you think it is happening when you click on "Go to first Unread Post" before the whole page has finished loading?

Actually, yeah, I'm having a bit of a problem with that... I've been getting error messages or being sent back to the main forum page, lots of times. But it's weird because the page looks loaded (sometimes even says "done") and you can scroll down; the blue loading box just takes forEVER to go away.

That could also be a result of my stupid misloaded AOL, again, though...

It is all beginning to make sense now. These Yankee chicks have taken leave of their senses and gotten stuck in the 60's. They've just GOT to be tripping if they think the yanks have a shot this year. Groovy? Yeccch.

I've had NO technical problems on the board Jim. In fact the only problem I've had these days is looking for a few wins in a row from my Sox.
