    Trivia Question...

This is probably going to be wicked easy...but what the heck, it's all fun just the same...

Can you tell me who was on the field when the New York Yankees won the World Series in 1978?

When the Yankees defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 6 of the 1978 fall classic, the following players were on the field:

    Thurman Munson c
    Jim Spencer 1b
    Brian Doyle 2b
    Bucky Dent ss
    Graig Nettles 3b
    Gary Thomasson lf
    Paul Blair cf
    Jay Johnstone rf
    Goose Gossage p

Lou Piniella, Mickey Rivers, Roy White, and Catfish Hunter had started for the Yankees, but were replaced before the last inning. The Yankees won the game 7-2, with Hunter earning the win, and Don Sutton taking the loss for the Dodgers.

Game 6 was in LA. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't the final out a foul pop-up caught by Munson? I could be wrong..........

Game 6 was certainly in LA, and it was a Tuesday night. Munson caught the final out behind the plate, in foul territory, off Ron Cey's bat.

That year, the final out of the ALCS was caught by Roy White.

The final out of the Boston playoff game was caught by Graig Nettles. That Nettles catch was the TV opening to Yankee games on Channel 11 for the next 2 years.

I guess that when Reggie ran off the field with the winning ball in his hand (I think he'd caught it) must've been in the '77 series where he'd hit the trey of dingers.

I remember fans started swarming him, some looking like they wanted the game ball, but he went like a diesel straight through them, flipping off his cap to someone needing a souvenir. Not the same WS, but figured I'd add this since it was on my mind.
