The Mets/Braves game is being televised on ESPN on Sunday. The Angels won't switch the game time so fans of both teams are being shut out and it stinks.

    Where do you live?

ESPN has exclusive rights to the 8 pm sunday slot and they're showing Mutts/Giants

I asssume for Bonds, not Piazza!!!

    Gotta love DISNEY!!!

They used to pull kid's movies out of circulation and only release them every 7 years-so the kids couldn't get certtain films. Melanie wanted peter pan and it wasn't available-I was dying to lock her in a room with Michael Eisner-I wonder how many hours of "Pitta pan now mommy grin pitta pan mommy grin pitaa pan now" he could take!

    It does suck though

Have you heard why the Angels don't want to change the game to an afternoon game?

  9. #9
I am guessing they don't want to inconvenience the fans who have tickets which I can understand. Sad truth is many of them would probably prefer to see an afternoon game. The bigger travesty is that all the fans at home miss what will probably be a vg game.

    Makes me sick.

Okay, all I can do is tell you what the ESPN schedule says. It list both the Yankees and the Mets as being on ESPN.

    Go figure.

    Hmmm...

On ESPN.com Sunday game schedule, the only game listed as being on ESPN is the Mets/Giants game.

I don't think the game can be on ESPN because ESPN can only show a certain number of games per team and I think they went over that limit when choosing the Yanks/Sox game.

    Okay.

Go into ESPN, click on MLB. Then click on "schedule" between "scores" and "pitching probables".

    Look at the Sunday listing.

It lists the Yanks as "ESPN". It does the same for the Mets. Don't ask me why. Also it lists the Mets as being on WPIX.

And if ESPN has "exclusive rights" to the Sunday 8 O'clock game then why are the Bosox listed as being televised on NESN in Boston at you guessed it 8pm??

    Like I said, "GO FIGURE".

But TVGuide.com has no listing for a Yankee game on ESPN.

    Ah who knows!

We just have to wait and see.

But my guess is no ESPN due to the limit per team.

Nor does Gist TV or TV Quest have a listing for the Yankee game.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Yankee game on some channel though.

I just went to both teams'(Yanks and Muts) homepages on espn.com and the site lists the mutts playing on WPIX and the Yanks at 8:05 on ESPN. I ddn't see anything that indicated the mutts will be on ESPN.

Today on the MSG broadcast, they said that the game tomorrow won't be televised. Well, I'll be listening to S & K.

All I know is that MSG listed the TV schedule for the upcoming games... tomorrow's game was listed as "No TV... Radio broadcast only." ::Shrugs::

It's ironic that this is the anniversary of the first televised MLB game and we don't get to watch the Yankees play today:

On August 26, 1930 NBC broadcast the first professional game, a doubleheader between the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds from Ebbets Field. The two games were split between the two teams. Red Barber, radio voice of the Dodgers, has the distinction of being the first television announcer in baseball history.

If you don't live in the New York area the game may be broadcast on extra-innings if you get direct-TV.

Aren't Disney and ESPN both part of the same entity? Are both companies, along with ABC all together as one? This has to have something to do with it, I guess.

Anyone know anything about broadcasting rights?

Why exactly the game isn't televised tonight?

From what I understand it's because ESPN has exclusivity rights so the Sox game shouldn't be broadcast either right?

But apparently it will be, so why do we get the shaft?

Welcome to Okie's World. Seldom do I ever get to see a Yankee game. Now if you love the Astros, Cardinals or Rangers -- this is a great TV market.
