Are the Yankees staying in SWB ?

Alot of Yankee Brass I guess at last nights game. There was a lot of talk about the Yankees buying the team outright and building a state of the art stadium but will it be in Scranton was the big question about. The Talk last night was the County could not satisfy the Yankees needs but the area is worried about them leaving being they just built 2 new hotels and a shopping area around existing stadium. Locals feel another team could move into the area but couldn't provide the Yankees draw.

Great find !! Thanks . I guess its in SWB hands...It sounds like to me if they proceed with a blocking lawsuit we'll be moving. They sound like, the county wants to dictate policy without any monetary input. The folks I talked to lastnite told me their money was on the county screwing up after what happened with the Long standing Red Barrons. They said Lehigh Valley came in and gave them what they wanted and more.I wonder if the stadium going up in Rockland County NY has anything to do with this. All it would take is an ok from the Mets. Money talks...

Why would Northeast Pa be mentioned instead of Scranton itself. I really wonder what they have in mind ?http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2010/09/1...-stay-in-nepa/

They would say NE PA rather than Scranton itself because the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees don't play in Scranton. They play in Moosic, PA and represent the area, hence why there are two city names in the team name (Scranton and Wilkes-Barre).
