    Chipotle? Qdoba? Other.

What's your go-to Mexican burrito spot? It's Chipotle for me here in Boulder, I'm a big fan.

I have been to both Q'doba and Chipotle countless times and I haven't noticed any difference whatsoever.

I visited a friend in Boulder back in college and we went to a great burrito place - I think it was before either of these chains was around. Any idea what it might have been?

Illegal Pete's? It's on the hill. Big City Burrito?

And this is a common argument here at school... the different with Qdoba is it offers a pretty tasty Queso.

There is a new Mexican restaurant a few blocks from my house. I had the enchalada and guac which was the best I've ever had. Maybe I will try the borito - i don't like beans though so that's why I've avoided trying one.

Not really my favorite kind of food, so I don't really go to either. I went to Chipotle once - because it was Halloween and they were giving free burritos to people who dressed like a burrito (which basically entailed wrapping myself in aluminum foil).

    Chain burrito <> best burrito.

This little dive were they spoke almost no english when I was in college, you just pointed to the number or did your best to order in broken spanish was by far the best.

Then the next best is this little family owend joint that looks like a chain place but most definetly is not is a close second. Though I usually get the tacos there not the burritos. they also have a killer flan desert.

    Re: Chipotle? Qdoba? Other.

Chipotle is very boring tasting. But it is owned by McDonalds so there are more locations around the country.

I do like Qdoba, their Ancho Chile pork burrito is excellent.

I am a bit of an expert as for some reason the DC area has a lot of chain burrito places and I eat at them all. Here is how I rank them.

    1. California Tortilla (sort of a local chain I think they have 25 locations in the DC/MD/VA area)
    2. Qdoba
    3. Baja Fresh (nice variety of options)
    4. Moe's (nicely priced)
    5. Chipotle (least amount of flavor, but they are at least organicly-minded)

I would've said Qdoba until I tried California Tortilla by where I live now. So Cali. Tortilla it is.

Too funny - I hadn't seen this and I just commented about it in the Five Guys Thread.

    Qdoba for me...
But my town has a huge Mexican population, so we have lots of great Mexican food right in town.

I like Chipotle, but I only ever have it in Boston, and I'm not even sure there's one within 40 miles of my present location. Never had Qdoba and I'm certain there isn't one anywhere near here.

I've never been to either Chipotle or Qdoba...don't even know if there are any here in SoFl.
I have been to Moe's...one very close to my office. Didn't have the Burrito, but the pork, rice & beans bowl thingy was good.

For authenticMexican there is a family owned restaurant close to the house. Yucatan Grill. I've had many things off their menu and never been disappointed. Very good...

Baja Fresh and Rubio's are pretty decent for fast Mexican food in LA-La-Land. So is La Salsa. They seem to be SoCal chains. I don't think I've seen any of those three outside of, well, California and Vegas.

Burritos at Chipotle and Qdoba are basically the same. The differentiating factor that pushes Qdoba over the top for me is that they have queso and they put it into your burrito. Wowza.

I actually think that they are quite different. Chipotle burritos tend to have a blander taste but are also a little bit spicy. At Qdoba they will toss a variety of different sauces on the burrito (like the ancho chile) to flavor it up.

I ate chipotle probably 3-4 times a week for most of college. Its fresh, if you pick the right stuff its not really bad for you (just a lot of calories, so you just need to stay somewhat active), and for whatever reason it doesn't really get old. i think its just the lime on the rice

  36. #36

    Re: Chipotle? Qdoba? Other.

    Moes.

Chipotle's salsa is weak and the lime aftertaste on the chips is nauseating.

I'm not a fan of either. Big, shiny, corporate burritos full of beans and rice. Blech.

My preference is a little Mom and Pop Mexican restaurant or taqueria, where the burritos come full of meat, instead of filler, and smothered in cheese and green chili.

Heh. I've been to places that serve Mexican food with green cheese and chili, but I wouldn't recommend them.

I've never had either. There used to be a little side of the road dive in Southport called Tacos or What? that was pretty awesome. And I was just in San Fran a couple months ago and fantastic Mexican food was pretty much falling out of the sky. My favorite may have been the spanish lady selling corn on the cob smothered with mayonaisse, parmesan cheese, and chili powder (I think). My brain said 'ewww', but my taste buds fell in love!

Completely agree. I used to go to a place in Brooklyn called Buddy's. Still miss it. Now I go to Ana's or Boca Grande in Cambridge, but they just aren't the same.

I agree. In my neighborhood, it's Chipotle, Adobo Grill, and Las Pinatas. The first two are ok. The latter (even though it's a freestanding joint) did not impress me that much.

I would rather go to the taquerías that are scattered throughout Lincoln Park and Lakeview. Although I highly recommend Cesar's (Home of the Killer Margaritas) of which there are only two locations.

    Re: Chipotle? Qdoba? Other.

There's a Mo's that just opened recently. The only thing I've had are their cheese quesadias (sp) and those are pretty good.

    Merry f'ing Christmas
