I went to a McDonald's in Delhi. They had to rethink it entirely, without any beef. They had chicken and fish, along with a veggie burger, a McAloo (potato) something-or-other, and whatever other unexpected things I can't remember - all done with Indian flavors (plenty of cumin).
And yet, somehow, by the time they were done, it was still unmistakeably McDonald's.

Eh, some of us like them and I'm sure there is beef in them although I am not going to research the ingredients.Originally Posted by YankeePride1967

And some of us don't. Like I said above to Steve, no offense to anyone else, we all have the right to like or dislike foods as we do, doesn't make anyone right or wrong. And I wasn't being literal when I was talking about the beef content.Originally Posted by 4bronxbombers

If I'm going to have a fastfood place burger I'll go to Wendy's or order something off the Burger King dollar menu... but if someone prefers McDonald's, more power to them. (it's a rare thing these days, though, when I will have hamburger)Originally Posted by YankeePride1967

Me, I love McDonalds french fries. When I could eat like that I would go there for the fries and go to another place for the burger. And I do love the sausage mcmuffin for breakfast, had one the other day in fact as I decided to treat myself. Hey, if we all had the same taste there would be one restaurant out there that would be very busy!Originally Posted by Hitman23

Wendy's or Burger King, to me, are a lot closer to a hamburger than McDonalds but as you said that is just my opinion and preference but these days my splurges have to be few and far between and I'd rather not use them on fast food. I'd rather go to a sit down restaurant and have a real burger with cheddar cheese and thick bacon on it.Originally Posted by fredgmuggs

There's this one particular McDonalds that for some reason has the best quarter pounders and fries of all the McDonalds in the area. I think it's because it's in a very busy area, and they don't have anything sitting around.Originally Posted by fredgmuggs

I guess calling stuff "disgusting" that others eat occasionally tends to make one feel a bit defensive but that's ok, I will keep my mouth shut about McDonald's since it... nvmOriginally Posted by YankeePride1967

See the thing is about this conversation is most people are actually describing eating at McDonalds as "treating themselves" or "indulging". Which implies, to me at least, that they think it's good.

Well to ME they are. Doesn't mean that anyone else has to agree. I'm not preaching or anything, just doing as others are doing and posting opinions, that's all. Like I said above, people have different tastes, nothing wrong with that. I just don't like McDonald's hamburgers. Others do, nothing wrong with either opinion.Originally Posted by 4bronxbombers

grumble... read the conversation again.... I got defensive for an entire different reason. I don't care if anyone thinks it's disgusting or a 5 star meal.Originally Posted by 4bronxbombers

And since they sell more hamburgers than anyone else, obviously people like them.Originally Posted by Hitman23

this is probably way off topic but I'm not a fan of burger king at all. I've eaten there probably 3 or 4 times in my life and I've ALWAYS gotten sick afterward...even if I only get fries..I'm not sure why because I know a lot of people like it and don't get sick. It's a mystery.![]()

And the sausage breakfast thingy isn't? ok Rick.Originally Posted by YankeePride1967

I'm not a fan of Burger King either. Not sure why but I've only eaten there a few times in my life.Originally Posted by b-ball-lunachick

Good. So me saying I don't like McDonald's hamburgers and the fact that I find them disgusting shouldn't bother anyone.Originally Posted by 4bronxbombers

Right, so this brings me to my first point in this conversation, that I am surprised they were ranked last. Most people consider it a treat, and in moderation, it's ok to eat it.Originally Posted by YankeePride1967
And no, your opinion shouldn't bother anyone. If you truly hate McDonalds burgers, cool. It certainly doesn't bother me if that's why you're tentative about your opinion. I was annoyed for an entirely different reason.

I think it depends on who is doing the ranking and what the criteria is. If the popularity of the burger is a criteria then it's flawed right off the bat. They may just be going by quality of the actual burger? Not sure as I didn't read that poll at all. And I think with McDonalds it's as much that sauce they use as the burger that gives it the flavor. As you said anything in moderation is fine, it's when it's a regular thing it gets dangerous.Originally Posted by Hitman23
And I'm glad you weren't offended (I can understand why you were annoyed as that was downright preaching and looking down on other people's taste which I wasn't doing at all). I was just giving my opinion on it and then saw the posts that followed and just wanted to make sure.

I searched Ollie's and would like to check it out. Too bad I'm hardly near their location. Until then, I'm still standing by Culvers.Originally Posted by Beyle

Have not tried Five Guys Burgers. In-And-Out is a very good fast-food Burger. There is another I like better. I'd call In-And-Out the St Louis Cardinals of burgers -- but I would call Nations burgers the New York Yankees of burgers.Originally Posted by Hellsing

Sweet. I highly recommend trying Ollie's if you're ever in the area. I know that Ollie's closes at the end of October. I will have to try Culver's at some point.Originally Posted by cubhater

Nations isn't really what I think of as fast food though. Kind of in that wierd category above fast food but not really a "good restaraunt".Originally Posted by Dave Visbeck
