Aside from the nostalgic aspect of the place (many cite it as the originator of the hamburger) there isn't much else going for it. You get a mound of tasteless meat served between two pieces of toasted white bread. And as I'm sure you are aware that for condiments - as long as you only want tomato, cheese, or onion you'll be happy because that is the only options you can get. I think you should get more for 5 bucks.... at least you should get a pickle and some lousy ketchup. And did I mention the obnoxious counter help? I guess some consider that part of their charm.

Does Five Guys serve hot dobs?

People are talking about the burgers at Five Guys, I've always thought about them for their fries. Of course you'll find better burgers in a regular sit down, locally own restaurant but in terms of fast food, I've seen a few places as good (Duchess for one) but I'm still not sure what the ingredients are in the "burgers" at McDonalds.

Has anyone ever been to or heard of Roadside? They are pretty decent. They use potato bread hamburger buns. And you get like 15 add-ons that come with your burgers. They are greasy as hell though. The sweet potato fries are real good, I'll give them that.

In 'n' Out makes a better burger than Five Guys. Five Guys makes better fries.
When I'm Jonesing for a burger, though, I'd rather head to a non-chain diner than either In 'n' Out OR Five Guys, or any other chain place.

Bingo. I'm not a huge fan of chain restaurants at all. Best burger I have had was at a locally owned place called The Dock in Norwalk, CT.Originally Posted by Maynerd

There is a Culvers in the town where I grew up. I haven't eaten there, but that's where the sell the butter burgers, correct?
Can't say anything about In N' Out other then I have heard it was good since I live on the East Coast. But, to me Five Guys is really good. I have also been to a Cheeburger, Cheeburger, and their burgers are really good too.
Still and will always be a New England Patriots fan.

Looks like this fast-food burger taste test thing is a hot topic these days.

Among the standouts were In-N-Out Burger and Five Guys Burgers and Fries. The biggest loser: McDonald's. Burger King and Wendy's fared better than McDonald's but far worse than the highest-rated chains.Five Guys The regular hamburger, two 3.3-ounce griddled patties, was served well done on a lightly browned sesame-seed bun. You can order any of 15 free toppings (the usual, plus options such as grilled mushrooms and jalapeno peppers). Bacon and cheese cost extra. The patties had a bit of searing along the edges, a chewy texture (the chopped meat was fairly coarse), and a beefy flavor. They reminded our reporter of minute steak. The meat was juicy but left an oily taste in his mouth. The bun was soft and spongy.Couldn't get his hands on an In-N-Out burger? Must have gone during lunch time. Our reporter couldn't get his hands on an In-N-Out burger, but readers gave it high marks. "It always seems as though the burger was made moments before," one said, "as opposed to sitting under a heat lamp." The basic burger costs about $2.
McDonald's comes in last. Shocking.
How can McDonalds be last? The only thing that keeps me from eating it is that it's toxic. As far as taste goes, McDonalds burgers rank up with some of the tastiest foods in existence.

It reads more like he doesn't INDULGE in them. If you don't eat it, how can you claim they are delicious? So either I missed the double sarcasm, or he's saying he doesn't eat them as much as he would like because he knows they will take your colon on a ride through Hades.Originally Posted by Trish

I don't think you're concerned. I think you just want to make snobbish comments because you disagree. I'm not claiming anything. I like the god damn burgers from McDonalds. Luckily those of us who occasionally eat them only have to worry about the burger for 12 minutes, not 12 years...the time it takes to enter one end and leave the other.Originally Posted by Hellsing
What really brings the In-N-Out burger together is the amazing 1000-island like sauce, combined with produce that actually tastes fresh. Five Guys is in second, but for me, its not really close... the patty itself is good, and the sesame seed bun is awesome as well, but the quality of the toppings is what puts In-N-Out over the top IMHO.
