Five Guys is expensive and eh, ok. Plus they make you wait for your food. Not good.

How anyone can call the burger quality there just "eh ok" is mystifying to me. Also, I'd rather wait for fresh food then eat microwaved crap. Just me though.

It doesn't live up to the hype. It's slightly better than, say, Wendy's and much more expensive.Originally Posted by Melan-cynic

If I could eat 5 guys burgers and fries every day without dying in about 2 weeks, I would.

For the same price as five guys, you could just go to a diner and get a burger of equal or better quality. Five guys has good burgers in the context of fast food companies, but doesn't compare that well to places that serve real food.
Their burgers are overrated, but they're definitely way, way better than a burger that you find at wendy's or something. Wendy's has some ultra flimsy square burgers, I am not a fan.
I ate at Five Guys once and didn't see anything special about it. Frankly I thought both the burgers and the fries were too greasy. One opened in my town several months ago. I haven't eaten there and probably won't.
We have a Cheeburger Cheeburger in my town. Now that's a good burger. It's not fast food though; it's a sit down restaurant.
A Wendy's patty is 4 ounces, a Five Guys patty is 3.5 ounces.Originally Posted by yankee82093

That's completely fine; the conversion of burger taste above average to burger winning % is a tricky one. If I were doing this, I would also rest up before trying.Originally Posted by JDPNYY
I agree that Five Guys is overrated. Their original location is right down the road from me here in Alexandria. Their burgers are good, but nothing special.

In n Out is okay, but just that. Had it 10-12 times.. pretty much everytime I go to LA. I always leave underwhelmed. Animal Style is nothin special. If I had a crave and The Castle and InO were next to each other I'd have to go Castle. Perhaps b/c Im an east coast guy and have a refined palette because of it. 5 Guys is not even in the same discussion as those two.
The one that blows all of them away is Shake Shack.
While we are talking burgers, in the past I would get 4-6 cheese burgers from white castle and an order of chicken rings. Place one chicken ring on top of the cheese in your burger, squirt honey mustard around the top of the chicken ring and place bun back on top. Finish off by dipping the entire thing into a plate of ketchup (which you've asked the person w/ the ketchup gun to provide) and enjoy. Not sure if one had something to do w/ the other but I gained about 20 lbs in a 2 year span in college once I discovered this.
Cheeburger Cheeburger is tremendous. Their milkshakes are awesome and I love the burgers. There's one in the town I'm from back in Jersey, but I don't go very often because when I'm in town, I'm desperately in need of some pizza that isn't terrible, so that's pretty much all I eat.Originally Posted by Eldee5

maybe i'm just allergic to all the peanut oil?
I've never been on the West Coast so I haven't tried this In-N-Out food nonsense I hear about. I think Five Guys burgers are pretty damned good in comparison to the places available that I've been to in Florida. Glorified White Castle burger? Those taste like basted sandwiches. A regular order of their fries, which is seemingly an extra-large order of fries anywhere else, is amazing. Plain only as the seasoning on their seasoned fries tastes weird.

Never heard of that one.Originally Posted by Beyle

For "fast food," the menu is pretty good. Actually, if you dine in, they bring the food to your table.Originally Posted by 4bronxbombers

Five Guys is good but In N Out is way better. They have something called Backyard Burgers in my area which I have yet to try but have heard it's better than Five Guys.

They've got 201 locations just in Califor-neye-ayy. But nuttin' in NY/NJ/CT. You may as well be talking about Wolfgang Puck's Spago restaurant in Vegas somewhere.Originally Posted by NewEraYanks2527

someone mentioned shake shack - don't they have those at Citi Field?
Best burger around here is Luxe Burger Bar.

My favorite cheeseburger is still a diner cheeseburger. Especially when they have those fat onion rings and steak fries in the deluxe meal. Any of these chains they are alright but give me the diner anytime.

Has anyone tried Bobby's Burger Palace?
I have one about 15 minutes from here - never realized it was a Bobby Flay place till recently.

It's a pretty good burger; a cut above a fast food burger but probably not good enough to justify the price difference. I think they're better than Five Guys though. We used to have one in my town but it never seemed to catch on as it was right near a Wendy's. The people who were running the Backyard Burgers gave up on burgers and now turned it into a Nathan's. I like that better anyway. I can't get Sabretts down here so Nathan's is about the best I can do for a NY style hot dog.Originally Posted by YankeeGalSC

The most overrated hamburger place in the world is Louis' Lunch in New Haven.

At 4 am I usually go for the scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns thing. But yeah the diner overall is one of society's greatest attributes.Originally Posted by RhodyYanksFan

I don't think I've ever had pancakes at a diner. French toast though, definitely. They have that really fat bread they use.
