    "Boardwalk Empire"

It starts on the 19th (on HBO) and I'm really excited to see it. I found an extended trailer for it while doing a search on Facebook. It looks really good.
Under siege until Jan. 21, 2013.

I also am definitely looking forward to this show, especially considering Scorsese directed the pilot, and Steve Buscemi proved to be quite the interesting gangster in The Sopranos.

I saw the "making of" on HBO this weekend. I'm really excited for it as well. Looks like the making of another home run for HBO.

It could be the new must watch on Sundays. From the previews it looks like lots of violence and sex which are the two key elements to any successful HBO show.

What time is it on? It will probably conflict with my favorite show "Mad Men"

I think it'll be on at 9 taking over for True Blood, but HBO replays everything a million times.

Hopefully it fills the void that has been left since Sopranos went off the air.

Since that ended, there's been at least 5 TV series that are better than the Sopranos ever was.

And so does AMC. I always just DVR my programs so I can watch them when I want anyway.

Seems somewhat interesting but I have doubts it will deliver. I'm more interested in visiting the set in Greenpoint, anyone know if they're going to open it to the public?

Oh really? Name them, please. Because there really hasn't been.

    Re: "Boardwalk Empire"

"Breaking Bad" is like The Sopranos of meth in a roundabout way. I love it...but I agree there isn't a show yet that has been better than "The Sopranos". I even watch the reruns on A&E sometimes.

Anyway, only one more week until "Boardwalk Empire" starts.

I can name 4: The Wire, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and The Shield.

All superior to The Sopranos after Livia and BP died.

I tried liking Mad Men, but that show is disgustingly boring

My fav show of all time. I rented that entire series based on your raving about it Greg and am about to do the same for Mad Men. Hope I like Mad Men as much as The Wire even though I know they are entirely different.

Same here. I cannot, for the life of me, get into it. Totally boring.

Never watched The Shield. But I think Breaking Bad and The Wire are certainly on par with Sopranos.

I generally get rid of HBO after True Blood, but may have to keep it for Boardwalk Empire. I also have to get Showtime for Dexter. Don't think the wife will appreciate the $150 cable bill.

I don't think that's been a fair description of the show since the first season.

7 seasons long, and not one bad episode. Taking that into consideration, I think it's one of the best shows ever.

That series (The Shield) pissed me off so bad in the first season that I never watched it again...

    Re: "Boardwalk Empire"

The Sopranos is so freaking overrated in retrospect.

I know people who watched every episode, but after the first few seasons, all they did was complain about how bad it had gotten. But they still watched it every week.

I watched the first season or so of Sopranos then got bored with it...I just don't care about the personal lives of those characters. There's a reason why gangster movies are so great. 2-3 hours and its over...But 86 hours? Ugh...

I love how the cool thing now is to dislike popular things and support more "low key" shows.

In retrospect, Sopranos is still a great show.

Boring to you, not to others. Some people like storyline-driven shows rather than a bunch of guys getting whacked and Joe Pesci saying F**K 150 times. And I loved Goodfellas and Casino too.

This show is supposed to be different than those. It's not for everyone. But to say it's overrated? That has to be the most overused word I hear nowadays, especially for things of the past. "Oh, American History X? Overrated in retrospect. I got bored after the first half hour when I realized there wasn't anymore curb stomping in the rest of the movie." Eh.

The first two seasons were among the best in TV history. Then it really went downhill. Still better than anything on regular TV, but it wasn't as good as it started out. They easily could have cut 15 episodes. They spent 80% of an entire season on Vito being gay. Such a waste.
