Announcing the NYYF Moderator Amateur Draft

Hello everyone

There are some awesome changes coming in the near future (new server hardware, better upgraded forum software, etc.), and to compliment that, we'd like to expand our moderator team to ensure that the quality discourse this site is known for stays at a high level.

If you are interested in helping us with that, please drop a note in this thread. If you spend a lot of time in a specific forum, such as the Around The Minors, and would like to help out in just that forum, that's great - just let us know .

i spend a good portion of time in the around the minors forum and know first-hand that someone needs to run that place with an iron fist... too much tomfoolery going on there... thusly, i would like to be considered for a mod role, but only if the pay is good

I'd be interested in the Around the Minors section. I was an admin for 4 years and G-Mod for 6 months at DHB, admin for 6 months at BW, admin for a year at TBE, set up the BH forum as well and a temp admin at that site. I spend a lot of time in the minor league section so yeah.

Same here.

One of the things that has always set apart NYYFans from other boards is the civility. I look at SoSH every once in a while, just to see how ridiculous it is over there, and there are days my head almost explodes.

A healthy group of moderators is the tool necessary to keep NYYFans from becoming as absurd as SoSH frequently is. If I can help, I'm more than willing to do so.

Those changes sound really good, but if you're upgrading to that latest version of vbulletin I personally want nothing to do with it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE conduct a survey of your users before moving over. I've been on a handful of sites where they "upgraded" and it was the worst change ever made and they lost a lot of users.

My suggestion, come up with a site or two that uses the new version you're thinking of and have people check it out first to see if they like or not and take a poll. You may not be thinking of the new version I've seen on other sites (like baseball-fever or wiredny), it may be a different kind. But lets not get to the point where it's too late to do anything about it
