Too bad about Del Potro, would've liked to see Federer give him a royal ass-whooping after last years final...

I'll root for Roddick as usual and wait for Federer or someone ranked 115 in the world to dump him out in the second week.

Battle of the bombshells..Wozniacki vs Sharapova.
Should be an interesting match.
We do not see things as they are. We see them as we are.
It is never too late to be what you might have been.
One of my girls is out.....Ivanovic![]()
My hopes now lie with Wozniacki
Jesus Montero since June 1 (286 at-bats):
.325/.386/.605/.991
July 1 (182 at-bats):
.348/.417/.658/1.075
I still think Kim Clijsters will win the women's singles.
If not, then I pick Caroline Wozniacki.

I keep on hoping to see a post actually discussing the US Open but then i see BB55 posting results. We know where to find results for a tennis match.
Well, Mardy Fish's run is over.
Novak Djokovic defeats him in three straight sets 6-3, 6-4 and 6-1.
There's one American left and it's Sam Querrey.

Meanwhile, Estonian Kaia Kanepi gets another scalp.
First, Kanepi knocks out #4 Serbian Jelena Jankovic in the third round.
Today, Kanepi bounces last year's semifinalist #15 Belgian Yanina Wickmayer in three sets.

Well, so far, Maria Sharapova lost the first set 6-3 due to her continuing service problems.Originally Posted by JfromJersey

This is painful to watch from Maria: serving problems, making unforced errors, not mixing up her game much, getting beat and overpowered on the baseline.
However, she's not going to quit.
Doing well at net though.

Bye Bye Maria.
Hit a lot of winners, but too many unforced errors and serving problems.

Here's something you don't see often in the US Open: a fight at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Anybody fancy a Wawrinka v. Federer final?

When I saw that on the news, at first I thought it was at a ballgame. I guess that leaves golf - face plant in the bunker.Originally Posted by BroadwayBomber55

September 28, 2008 - the day the HOF got a wake-up Moose call.
5th set for Querrey and Wawrinka. Nadal's side of the draw opened up so much, these guys are the only two that could stop him from reaching the finals. Since they're beating up on each other I'm gonna assume that if Federer gets by Soderling (and Djoker) it will indeed be a Nadal-Federer final.

What a day at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
Stanislaus Wawrinka and Sam Querrey played a great 5-set match at Arthur Ashe.
Fernando Verdasco came back from 2 sets down to beat fellow Spainard David Ferrer in a 5-set tiebreak.

The shot Nadal hit on match point was amazing. He's never had a better chance at advancing to the final of the U.S Open, its imperative that he takes full advantage of this.
