    Who's Not Renewing for 2011?

This year has been the worst I've ever seen in terms of ticket resale value. Although I personally did very well with my sales, I think it's only going to get harder to unload tickets. So I just wanted to get a feel from other ticketholders if you guys were looking to renew, scale back, or cancel all together. These are the ticket plans I have:

2 seats Full Season - Infield Grandstand 423 - 99% Sure to renew
    2 seats Full Season - Outfield Grandstand 428 - 50/50 on renewing
    2 seats Sunday 15+ - Outfield Grandstand 410 - 50/50 on renewing

I have a single tix so I would like to upgrade to a pair at least - Hopefully to the 1st base side to get out of the sun. I can deal with the sun for awhile, but this year its been unbearable. Im in Terrace 327 - Sat Plan

I would even consider partnering with someone who is on the fence about renewing - you get rid of half your games and keep the same location

I was just checking the Yankees site, and they're only offering pro-rated plans for this year for full season in the most expensive locations. This includes 24 games, but the kicker is that you have to put a deposit for the 2011 season. I bet we can count on one hand the number of people that have taken up this offer

Definitely renewing. I might have more games in my plan than I can attend in person (20), but I have a great price and a great location, in the shade and out of the rain. I'm in the baseball-watching business, not the ticket-selling business. If I don't sell my extra games, it's still well worth my cost so I can have the seats I like and the choice of games that I get. And I got great post-season tickets in the pre-sale last year.

Do you think economy has caused this decline or too many resellers

Re: Who's Not Renewing for 2011?

I'm definitely renewing and hopefully upgrading again like this past off season. I'm in 233A now and I think I can move up to 231 and stay in the same price category. Beyond that I'd have to take a look at things to see what I can afford if something even better comes up.
I have the Sunday Plan and I only resell my tickets to friends and family for face value, I have only sold one game on the secondary market in the 17 seasons I've had them and that was this year (for a mild loss), one of the weekday day games they force feed you now with the Sunday Plan. We generally have a waiting list every year of friends and family that want to go to a game every year so we get to go as much as we want ourselves and let others go to the games we can't make or they come with us with the two extra seats we have (we have 4 together)
I've been largely unaffected by the bad economy and the slow reselling market because by now after all these years we have a pretty good list of people that still want to go to at least one game a year so we usually have no trouble moving the games we can't go to for whatever reason. I don't gouge anyone so I resell them all for face. Getting the same face for the premium games and also the cah-cah games pretty much evens it out. It works out nice because even though we have four seats we end up only paying for the ones my wife and I attend and whoever uses the other two and goes with us or whoever takes all four from us pays us back. When people pay us for tickets, we set the money aside and put it towards postseason tickets when those bills come due.
I'm very glad I did not take the bait and upgrade to a higher plan like a lot of people did during the relocation or buy multiple plans with the expectation of profit like a lot of people did this most recent off season. I'd probably be feeling quite a financial pinch right now if I did. I know everyone has their motives but it was never about profiting with me.

I plan to renew but maybe this poll should wait until we know what next seasons ticket prices will be. That could make a difference with a lot of people.

Re: Who's Not Renewing for 2011?

I have 8 seasons- four in a premium $250 per section and four in the 200's at $125 per. The 100 level tix are used for family and business, and we take a beating on all games that we try to re-sell if they are not Boston or the Mets. A weekend game in the summer can come close to face, but then with the fees you are losing.

In the 200's I do ok- generally can get close to the $125 during the week (I am front row), and usually can get a premium on the weekends. This year was MUCH worse than last year, I agree. I will be renewing both, mostly due to committments and needs, but expect to lose $.

What happened to the days when my premium box seats were $12.50 in the late 80's????

Definitely renewing my two full season seats in 420C.

I'll go out on a limb and say that more folks in the higher priced seats who are not making it back on resales will drop or change to a lesser plan. Folks in more reasonably priced seats will likely keep their seats.

What did people do before Stubhub when they had full seasons? They went to games... If you couldn't afford season tickets you bought them individually at the kiosks (I miss those) or at ticketmaster- when it came around. You didn't buy seasons to see if you could make a killing. Especially when even back in the 80's you couldn't get 25,000 in to see Boston on a Friday night.

This is true, but also remember that my front row Stadium seats were $100 a pop as recently as three years ago ($250 the final year, and now in comparable spot right above legends they were $325 last and $250 this). And they had gone up steadily to get to that $100 a pop seat back then, so the MAJOR expense associated with premium tickets has only been a recent phenomenon. It hasn't been "affordable" for some time, but it hasn't been "second mortgage or more" expensive for that long. I had no problems eating the occasional ticket in the mid 90's. Now it kills.

Re: Who's Not Renewing for 2011?

There is virtually no chance that I renew my Jim Beam Suite seats. The only possible way would be if there is a major price reduction and I don't expect the Yankees will want to set a precedent of a significant price cut even if it made sense to do so.

Re: Who's Not Renewing for 2011?

I will definitely be renewing next year. In 2009, they relocated me to $45 terrace seats in the blazing sun for my Saturday plan. This year, I "upgraded" to the Grandstand, behind the plate, in the shade, and saved $20 per ticket to boot.

I love my seats. And even if I don't go to all 15 games in my plan, I've always been able to sell the games I can't attend to friends and co-workers (and always at face value). AND, I was able to get tix to WS Game 6 during the pre-sale, so I have absolutely no complaints.

I have little sympathy for those who bought multiple full-season plans looking to make a profit. You gambled and you lost.

Same as Ram Man for me. NO chance I renew Jim Beams unless the price cuts nearly in half (which I can't imagine). I will be getting a plan, just not one that far overpriced. I feel lucky to have broken even on my extras this year but I am not gambling on that next year. Main Infield is where I would like to be.

Re: Who's Not Renewing for 2011?

    2009 - 4 full in 132 @$100 / ticket
    4 sunday plan in 237

    2010 - downgraded to 4 full in 208 @$45 / ticket
    4 sunday plan in 237

Will definintely renew the Sunday plan in 237 (finally got to sit in them myself this past Sunday night and had a blast. If it weren't for the wife, this is where I would prefer to sit for any night game.

I think I will renew the 4 full in 208 since I am able to go to about 15 games myself, sold about 20 to a "partner" (while promising playoff tickets at FV) and a couple of others that took small multi packs early (a couple of weekdays plus a Saturday all at FV, etc) It left me with about 30 games to have to deal with this year. I found that early was hard, late will probably be hard but summer made enough to make up for it. There were a few weekday games that I lost less than $10 per seat but there were others, and not just Red Sox games but Friday and Saturday games vs whoever, that made a bit more than that. All in all, I have made enough to make it worth it and with the Bleachers as a small suppliment, I have been able to take family/friends to games and treat them. It is a lot of work but at least this year, was worth it.

Re: Who's Not Renewing for 2011?

12 game plan in the bleachers. Very easy to resell the few games I dont want to attend, but I would like to try and get a weekend package in either the bleachers or infield grandstand.

Re: Who's Not Renewing for 2011?

I have an 11 midweek plan in the terrace 312 and a 20 game plan in section 410. The midweek plan I'm dumping.... it's a little over $1,000 for 11 games while the 20 game plan is around $850, giving me Friday games, weekends, a Red Sox game and a Subway Series game on top of it having 9 more games.

The cheaper tickets are easier to sell, dump and profit from. Also, many midweek games are included in the $5 games.
I got mine in blazing copper.

Re: Who's Not Renewing for 2011?

    Sect 306 Sunday plan.

I plan on renewing and hope to upgrade. Main Outfield are only $5 more than the Terrace OF seats and offer a better view, shade, and they're lower. Plus home runs coming that was is an added bonus.

I'm guessing that the turnover rate isn't that high in the main outfield, but who knows. Maybe I'll luck out.

Terrace 311, FS, 2 seats on the aisle and in the shade. Would like to move over one section to 312 which is in the same price category but seems to sell much better. I go to 15 - 20 games per season and just want to break even on the rest. If I cannot move then 50/50 I will renew or try to downgrade to a 41-game plan.

well you know how the yankees operate, you need to renew before you can start talking relocation. So you have to take the risk up front

I've got a 12-game pak right now. What does the 15-game Friday pak give me aside from every Friday home game?

Saturday Plan Grandstand 429. will be renewing but would like to move closer to the field if possible...

Re: Who's Not Renewing for 2011?

20 game plan #2 section 432a and Friday plan section 432a.

I would like to have a 41 plan or full season in grandstand or bleachers. As it is I already buy 35 games a year with those 2 plans and all I get are presale codes. I also know it's tough to get seats in the grandstand or bleachers for a full or 41 plan.

If I can't get those I would keep the Friday plan and try to switch the 20 game plan to a Sunday plan. Also would like to move closer to home plate.

Before you choose your seats for next year, take a look on StubHub to see which seats they classify as "Main Infield". StubHub Main Infield differs from official Yankees Main Infield. For ease of reselling, if you have to resell, you want your seats to be in the best possible StubHub category.

    2 tickets - Saturday, 430 Row 11
    2 tickets - Sunday, 429, Row 12

Looking to combine the seats into 4 tickets for Saturday and move closer in the infield. I figure by the time I get back behind home plate (I was in tier 6 in OYS) I'll be interested in getting something a bit more pricey on the main level.

There is ZERO chance I'm renewing my seats in Main Outfield.
    Section 206 Row 5
I'm also 99% sure that seats 7-11 in that row are put up on Stub Hub by the Yankees. I asked my rep about it when I tried to upgrade last year and he didn't want to comment after pulling the seats up on his screen.

    2007 - 2008 Sunday Plan 2 tickets Tier 1 Row 20 behind home plate
    2009 20 Game Plan 2 tickets 431A Row 10
    2010 Sunday Plan 2 tickets 431A Row 13

Will probably renew next year, with the possibility of changing to a Saturday plan. Trying to get closer to behind HP like I had in my first 2 years.

I have a 20 game plan in 208 and too many of the games I have I see on Stubhub for below face. I'm switching to an 11 or 12 game plan and use the extra money for games on stubhub- maybe even a game in the Legends.

Hey JeffSide...why zero chance of renewal? I'm just curious...I'm in section 205 and I'm pretty happy there. I sell a bunch of games to clients and friends for face value...as well as a few games on stubhub that always sell for a little over face(after the fees its a break-even). It sounds like you cant wait to get out of there

    4 FS...Section 205...Row 10

I'll definitely be renewing...I'd luv to move up a couple of rows...but i didn't have any luck with that last year.

Full Season 431B 2 seats - 0% chance I keep these seats next year. Hope to move these seats to the bleachers, even if I have to drop a seat or if the seats aren't together.
12/12/11 235 1 seat each - I'll only keep these if I can't move my full season to the bleachers, and hopefully add-on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday plans.

Which plan do you have and how much are your seats each? Just curious.

Your experience is pretty much mine. The only difference being that I'm on the Saturday Plan and have only two tickets. I usually go to one game a month either with my dad, son, daughter or good buddy. I also have no problem being able to resell tickets at face value to family, friends and co-workers. I'm in a great location in the shade & protected from rain in Section 208. One day when I have the funds I'd like to upgrade to four seats. For now, I take advantage of doing trade-ins and the $5 coupons at the ticket window in the spring.

Just because I don't feel like looking it up, how much are tickets in the 200 sections?

I'm dropping my Sunday Plan. Sec. 428 Row 13. I will probably keep my 12 game weeknight plan in Sec. 419, Row 14 because my cousin is willing to take 8 of the games, otherwise I would drop that plan too. I can get better seats on StubHub at below face value for many games.

Difficulty selling Main Sec. seats at cost in August? Even on a Friday night? People dropping their prices like crazy the day before/day of a game. Almost always at least 6500 tix available the week before a game - sometimes 8000 tix. Not only do I have the Tuesday night specials run by the Yankees, but now I will also encounter half price tix courtesy of the Yankees and Modells. Yankees apparently dumping tix on StubHub below STH face value. Parking now $23 per game.

My kids play their own sports now. They love the Yankees, but they would rather play games themselves, and that's the way it should be.

It's been a nice 11 year run as a full season ticket holder, but I think this is the end. Let's see if/how the Yankees do in the playoffs.

Next year it might be my turn to buy on StubHub, or purchase a plan that does not include post season tix.

I'm renewing but only to try and upgrade. My new job requires a lot of travel. I need to get out of my weekday plan and into a Sat or Sun plan. I know I'll have to sacrifice location so I guess it's going to depend on what's available as to whether or not I end up staying.
