Man, my friends in the Bay Area who are Warriors fans are shaking their heads.

Picking Ekpe Udoh over Greg Monroe?!

Udoh = another Adonal Foyle who block shots and that's it.

Not at all. Udoh has a nice jumper, and is a very good passer.

I read that he said he "just couldn't leave this group of players."

Low odds, but it would be super ironic if Pierce ended up leaving him.

I think this a pure money grab by Pierce. Not that I blame him, I'd do the same. I think he comes back on a 3 or 4 year deal. I mean, where is he going to go? The Clippers? Good luck. He has to be smarter than that.

As currently constituted (or rather, soon to be) this is a Top 3 team in the East.

How fast does NBA free agency move? Is it like the NHL were a ton of deals go down in the first day or is it more of a dragged out process?

And I thought the Knicks signing Jerome James for 5-year/$30 million was a bad signing.

Darko Milicic who averages 8.3 PPG and 5.5 RPG re-signed by the Timberwolves.

What type of kool-aid are owner Glen Taylor and GM David Kahn drinking?

That's actually better than the Jerome James' signing, if someone is stupid enough to offer him. Milicic is still only 25 years old and what he needs is playing time. When the Timberwolves started him last season, he was decent. Also, the rumor deal's fourth year is only partially guaranteed.

The only way I dont see LA winning again next year is a) injuries or b) somehow Bosh, Wade and James end up on the same team. As good as my Knicks would be if we could get James/Bosh, James/JJ or James/Amare to add to Gallo, Chandler, Douglas....it still wouldnt be as good as what LA has. At least not yet.

In a messed up kind of way overpaying players is good for individual teams (eventually). It is very rare to have a FA period like this one. So you have to acquire players by trade. And the only way to get a real good player (who would more than likely have a big contract) is to trade players whose contracts match up. Especially if it is an expiring contract. Those are the best. Like when the Celtics got KG, that never would have happened if not for Theo Ratliff's stupid contract.

Pierce will re-sign with the Celtics.

And apparently they are talking to (or did talk to) David Lee. I have no clue how they would be able to swing a deal for him.

So he'll make just over $15M per year? Not quite the money grab I expected nor the max deal that was rumored. He's actually taking a paycut.

He's taking a paycut for this year, but then his deal was done. He wasn't going anywhere so he just guaranteed himself an additional $40 million and finishing his career in Boston.

I think he's taking a pay cut in the sense that he may have been able to get more money from another team.

Or look at it as an extension. A 3 year, $40 M extension.

ESPN is saying Wade is going to Chicago.

How does Wade and Rose work in the back court? They're similar players.

D-Wade in the SG/SF with D-Rose in the PG.

If Wade goes to Chicago.....I think Bosh joins him there while James goes back to Cleveland.

    Jesus Montero since June 1 (286 at-bats):
    .325/.386/.605/.991
    July 1 (182 at-bats):
    .348/.417/.658/1.075

Wade works well off the ball when given the chance...remember in 2006 when he got to work with Payton/J-Will?

That would be rather interesting...the team speed would be off the charts.

Poor Bosh if he gets left out.
