I'm hoping they kind of settle into just a couple of arcs. I don't really care about Sam's family, or Arlene (though I love Terry). I also don't care about Tara (but am liking Franklin, or moreso James Frain).

I hope we see more of Alcide's sister Janice, though that is another weird small story arc I guess. She is NOT how I pictured her from the books. I like this Janice a lot better.

True Blood seems to be falling into West Wing's season six problems in season three. I hope they pick it up.

I want to be able to text em-effer like Franklin.

I was not expecting to see the backstory about Eric The Viking Prince's family and his history with werewolves...fascinating how they are bringing that into the mix.

Seems logical. Now he has a reason to dislike the King.

Re: True Blood--Season Trois: The Official Thread

There were a couple of times I had to just say "Ew, GROSS!" out loud last night! In particular, Tara ripping into Franklin's neck like it was a piece of steak.

Speaking of Tara, she really should have chosen the labrys to chop off Franklin's head. If she really wanted him gone. He will be back...thank goodness.

Alcide's wolf form was beautiful...as is his human form.

I guess we may be finding out more about what Sookie is next week. It looks like she may be meeting her faerie kin?

Did anyone see the trailer for the second half of the season online? If anyone besides me is reading this thread?

I'm reading it but I fell in to the same trap I always seem to. I DVR a show then don't get around to watching it until the next week so I'm always a week behind.

Can someone explain who the magistrate is? How can he be above a king/queen?

He's like a Texas Ranger for vampires. He looks for laws being broken, and can sit in judgement of any vampires breaking the code. That's what i've gathered from the TV show, not sure about the books.

the tv show preview for the second half of the season looks sick.

    re: grossing out
I'm sad to admit it but the very very intimate scene between the two guys in the car was grossing me out. Tara definately should have grabbed the axe (idiot) and just cut his head off. Sookie should have zapped the ................ outta that vampire rather than letting her have time to grab her. Sam and Jason are both idiots.

I'm wondering if there's a single redeemable character besides Andy and his cousin.

Ha ha, Boz. The bf watches "Ice Road Truckers" so I went into my backroom lounge to watch "TB" last night. He happened to walk in to ask me something just as that scene was playing. And he was sort of icked. It did not faze me really...and I am not really one of of those women who gets all aroused by watching men go at it. I mean, sometimes it can be OK but those two don't really do anything for me.

About the magister--I keep associating him with this one sort of "judge" character who is in one of the books. However I believe that vampire was an ancient female.

That's my problem with Mad Men. There's nobody to root for.

That guy that plays the magister plays "creepy old guy" in everything.

Too friggin funny. Generally, that stuff doesn't bother me at all. But last night, I had my hands covering my face during that scene. Lafayette is such a bad ass character, it's hard seeing him with his guard down like that.

I thought last night's episode was the best of the season. And the 2nd half looks unreal. Looking forward to seeing where things will go from here.

Eric is going gay in order to drive his mansteak of vengeance through the King's heart.

The king is over 3,000 years old? I liked Godrick because he seemed wise and powerful, but now we learn that he wasn't even the oldest vampire in the friggin' Mid-West.

Wolves are a bit too weak for my tastes. Wish they had more bite.

Sookie is as dumb as a box of rocks. She's had this white light power come out of her on a few occasions and she doesn't bother trying to cultivate it? Who would completely ignore such a thing?

    I miss Mary-Ann.

Previews....Bill was NON-Vamp looking and walking in the daylight.

Factoid: The guy playing Alcide played Flash (the bully) in Spiderman 1.

when they cut to outside the car and they're making out -- it didn't bother me at all. It just wasn't as intimate as the scene in the car when they're really just talking, and barely touching each other. It's strange.. i can't explain it..

Really good back to back episodes.

I'm assuming that Sookie's blood enabled Bill to survive in the sun? He did look to be smoking a bit, but certainly didn't burst into flames like we've seen in the past.

Interested to see where they'll go with Sook, and her relationship with Bill and Alcide.

To me it almost looks like Sookie's blood may be a cure for vampirism. He probably has to drain her dry though, and "take her light"

Kind of...in the books, Sookie is part fairy (her great-grandfather is a fairy king), and vampires/fairies have been at war pretty much forever albeit with some forming alliances with each other. Vampires are intoxicated by fairy blood and so are naturally drawn to them, finding them delicious etc Claudine is Sookie's her cousin/fairy godmother literally but is "real" in the books and not just existing in some kind of fairyland.

I felt gypped last night...where were the last ten minutes of the show? Lame!

Bye, Lorena! And Magister! And Coot! The post-mortem was amusing.

One other thing. Russell is so much more entertaining as a villain than Marayann was. The guy playing him is doing a fantastic job.

    Great episode!
nah, i've written above about it. this stuff wasn't bad at all, but it was nice to see some boobs and hetero sex in the series again.

the begining of the episode was stupid, imo.. sookie wakes up and in 2 seconds she's the voice of calm and reason. Bill finally shows some emotion rather than just mopeyfaced bull................. My wife can't stand Bill, and when I remarked that i have a lot more in common with Bill than I do Eric (who she loves, so i enjoyed watching her squirm a little during his sex scene).. she said:
"What, you're boring and have a stick up your ass?"
"Yep", was my response, and she didn't argue.

I knew Eric was going to kill that guy, btw.

Yeah, my wife did not enjoy the Eric/Talbot scene at all. She is a huge Eric fan. And she did cheer when he offed him.

The Sookie scene at the end was quite nice.

Russell is a great villain. "Aww whats the matter pumpkin?" "They killed my Cooter" "Oh, well he died a hero." Just love how nochalant he is about things sometimes.

I'm glad we got more Jessica last night, but we still need MORE Jessica if you know what I mean.

Jessica was great last night: I loved the supersonic-speed interlude of Bill teaching her how to fight werewolves. And then when she waved "Hi!" at the one wolf...awesome.

So it's about time they introduced kitty cats to play with the dogs.

Have you read the books too? I can't tell if you are playing or not...

Yeah, in the books the whole town of Hot Shot are werepanthers and half-breeds--Jason even becomes one. They don't deal meth though.

Also, Calvin Norris is portrayed as a decent enough person and also a suitor of Sookie's. Does not seem that way here....

I like how they are mixing it up a bit for TV, though.

And last night was a Russell tour-de-force! He was so awesome!!!!

    Carrying around Talbot-In-A-Jar!

Awesome episode! I just wish Franklin killed Tara. Enough with her already. Also, enough with Crystal. Jason Stackhouse is a dumb jock who can get any girl he wants. Why is he bothering with this frumpy mess?

Russell should be nominated for an Emmy. He's so awesome.

I get the impression that Russell could take Bill & Eric without breaking a bloody sweat.

Oh...and Jessica >>>>>>>>> Sookie. Red Vamp all day everyday. Seems like Sam's brother is gonna do her doggy style though.

    Last nights episode:

Ok we know what Sookie is, seriously though how dumb is it that she has not been trying to harness these kinds of powers all along?

    Tara-just die already.

V-Trip went on a little too long with Layfatte and Jesus

Love Jessica, loved Hoyt punching Tommy in the face.

Just really kind of a put the pieces in motion episode it seemed like with everyone coming clean. Looking forward to next week.

Oh and "Blah blah blah vampire emergency blah."

Tommy is such a puss. All you can think of to turn into a pit bull? How about turning into a friggin' Kodiak?

Which brings me to two other questions....

    - He sunk those teeth deep into Hoyt's arm like a real dog. When they transform do they have all the properties of that animal or what? I guess so since he FLEW when he turned into a bird. Then WHY not turn into a BEAR and take his head off? Seriously.

    - He attacks Hoyt, doesn't kill him, and forces Jessica to rescue him. NOT a well thought out plan. He basically brought Jess & Hoyt together when it was clear he was trying to get in that piece. Dumb.

Like Sam said to him, "You're an idiot"

What are they trying to do with Sam's little backstory? To show how much he's been wronged in the past, and having trust issues? He's more like his bio-family then he wants to be.

I think it was a good setup for the final 2 episodes. Do we think Eric planning on draining Sookie so he can make a sneak attack on Russel?

What are they trying to do with Sam's little backstory? To show how much he's been wronged in the past, and having trust issues? He's more like his bio-family then he wants to be.

I think it was a good setup for the final 2 episodes. Do we think Eric planning on draining Sookie so he can make a sneak attack on Russel?
Looks that way from the preview.

I sure as heck hope they don't kill him off.

Russell? I think that's almost guaranteed they do. They'll get a new villain each year.

Yeah pretty much, I can't see him sticking around now. He's made the vampires look bad and they have to deal with the problem.
The loser now will be later to win...

But he's the baddest MoFo on the planet. One does not simply slay the Vampire King! He's like friggin' Dracula! You can't KILL Dracula!

Yup. They always have the AVL(?) lady and the hypocrisy surrounding her to become the next problem.

You THINK he is. Did you read the Anne Rice vampire chronicles? Armand was 400 years old and thought he was the oldest. Then, there turned out to be Those Who Must Be Kept or something who were over 10,000.

Any vampire story always has that to fall back on.

My point is nothing short of a 10,000 year old Vampire is going to pose the same sort of danger as Russell. Sure...they could roll out a 5K Vampire...a 6K Vampire like some sort of Intel Processor rollout scheme, but that would be lame. At this point, ONLY Godrick was close to his age and he was ONLY 2K years old. MaryAnn was a badass. Russell is super badass. Where do you go from here? Werepigs?

How old is he? He's over 9,000!

If Russell was so easy to dispose of, the AVL would have come after him already. (Assuming they don't next episode) He's a problem now and UNLESS he's too powerful to capture, then they should have no problem putting a stake in him. The AVL doesn't have the same sort of impact in terms of emotion/danger as Russell.

I think all your points are good, ones, but I still see Russell getting crushed and the series moving to a new villain next year.

Of course he won't be easy to dispose of, but he's already given up his weakness. Carrying around a bloody gay mess in a jar will be his undoing. They showed him losing his sanity just this week.

They're going to kill him with kindness, I think.

Congratulations to Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer.

Now, show us some Sookie/Eric youknowhat.

The thing about faery blood enabling vampires to walk around in daylight is not in the books I don't think and....odd.

I only watched my DVRd episode once after we got home on Monday and feel I need to see it again.

Also, in my head I always pictured the Hotshot werepanthers as tawny-colored mountain lion-y Florida panthers. The black panther Crystal appeared as looked like my cat Scrappy.
