DE LEON POWERS YANKEES PAST ‘GADES IN COMEBACK WIN
The Staten Island Yankees came from behind thanks to two homeruns by right fielder Kelvin De Leon to split the brief two-game series with the Hudson Valley Renegades and finish off the home stand with a record of 3-2 in five games.

What do you think of Chase Whitney? Although his stuffs are not top notch, his makeup and toughness makes him pitch so effective. I would like to rush him up this year in order to get a real test.

RAB liked O'Brien. I start to like him but still not sure if he will be able to stay in the rotation for 5 plus years.

Good to see them back over .500. Roller is starting to rake. He should do well there, but, like Kyle Larsen a few years ago, this might be his limit as far as a pro goes.

Not really a surprise he's been on thin ice for a while and hasn't been performing well at all.

Considering their slow start, this is indeed a surprise that they turned it around so quick.

The big thing is the bats are starting to come around. Basically for the first couple of weeks the middle of the lineup has been silent. Also the defense has gotten better.

I don't have anything right now other than what I wrote in my preview book last season. When the team comes back this weekend I will try to find out more from Daneker.

    Eduardo Sosa
    Kyle Roller
    Jose Mojica
    Kelvin De Leon
    Mikey O'Brien
    Nik Turley

Those are the player features I am planning on doing soon, I will let you know when I am in the process of actually writing them.

SOSA IMPRESSING SO FAR THIS SEASON

"I’m glad he’s my center fielder,” that is what Staten Island Yankees reliever Mike Recchia had to say when asked about his thoughts on Eduardo Sosa.

Badler on Sosa: Very interesting sleeper. Not a big guy, not a lot of power, but he handles the bat well for a 19-year-old.

A better outing by O'Brien today. Six innings, four hits, no runs, and three strike outs.

He has been the ACE all season for the Yankees. I believe his last outing was his only really bad one. He did struggle in his start in mid-July, about 3 starts ago, but the only really bad one was last time out - I believe he had like 5 BBs.

I got the final interview for my feature on Mikey O'Brien and also started with the interviews for my feature on Jose Mojica. Check back soon, take a look at the photo galleries on GothamBaseball.com for some great action shots of the SIYanks
